I have an HB winter panther that I got new when they were being offered. As I recall the piece arrived with a barrel that was slightly bent down, kind of like a banana. Not sure if it me or if the conditioned has worsened over time. Has anyone had the same situation and what if anything did you do to correct it? Bill W

Try Viagra! ^&grin

(Sorry, I couldn't resist that one!)

Bill - you can carefully bend it back to its original position. The material is pewter so it should be bent easily.

by working it slowly.

Thanks Ana and Fmethorst. I was afraid to try any intervention on it but now know that I can. Cheers.
Ana, hope all is well down your way.

It is pewter and soft as Ana said but be careful...haste makes waste. Since it is long (unlike rifle tips or bayonets), I suggest taking 2 wooden planks and "sandwich" the barrel. You then gently squeeze the planks together to get an even correction. Using your hands/fingers to straighten the barrel may result in uneven barrel.

For rifle tips of bayonets, I use my thumb and point fingers...but before applying pressure, I let the body heat to warm the metal for a few minutes then slowly apply pressure.

Hope this helps

Let the tank sit in some hot sunny area of a deck "before" bending back to correct position and bend it back "SLOWLY"

Really no need on this one (sun is never good for paint or glue anyway). This is really soft metal. Very easy to bend. I even had one bend under it's own weight when I put the turret down on a table to rest. Just leaning on it's own gun was enough to bend it.

I cannot believe someone could be as stupid to wrap an AFV like this!!!!!. Never had anything like this from Ana ever they were always wrapped superbly and, never had any issues with an HB afv.

What I believe happened is the polystyrene support which was originally under the barrel was too short and slipped out during shipping. This left the plastic wrap with nothing to oppose it. Fortunately the barrel was soft enough to straigten by hand.

Both of the HB Panthers I purchased were wrapped just like this. One was OK, the other (ironically, it was one of the "damaged" Panthers) had a curved barrel thanks to the plastic wrap. In attempting to straighten the barrel, it snapped off clean at the gun mantlet. Boy, I turned the surrounding air quite a nice blue color.:rolleyes2: The break was very clean/even so I was able to reglue the barrel with little effort after fixing the curve and the result is all but invisible. All's well that ends well, but I have no use for that plastic wrapping technique used by HB. -- Al
