When's somebody gonna come out with some new ranges?Only KC with ther WWI planes and new glossies have come out with someting new.Come on guys I'm getting bored.FL where's yours?Conte wheres the NWF and it looks like it's gonna take longer to get your Roman range out than the Empire lasted!CS are you gonna just stick with your Naps,WWII,and ACW?Britains aren't you suppose to be coming out with something? Were almost a quarter of the way in the new year.

Hey Mark

I am quite content with the selection we have now. I am scaling back slightly this year as I dropped out of WW1. Don't see myself collecting any other ranges- to include Roman ranges- though a Masada themed line or another go by a particular manufacturer at Zama might make me focus on Rome only.

Otherwise, I am happy with the pace of WW2 releases from CS- that 88 is fantastic and is keeping me well in debt. I just don't see anyone taking any risks right now, which is fine with me- the figures are just too expensive and money is tight. The only other range I would ever consider getting into would be the Scottish wars of William Wallace.

If nobody is doing anything that you want - then make up your own that you do want by adaptiing castings and then paint them. It will also solve the expense problem, 'cos they are much - much cheaper! ( and I do mean MUCH cheaper!). You might also get a far more interesting hobby, by doing them yourself - IF and it's a big IF - you have the time!%^V: johnnybach:salute::

I would welcome a true dry spell. I have my hands more than full with all the new stuff coming out from CS, JJD, KC, TGM, and the rest. About a 6 month moratorium on new products would be just fine.^&grin -- Al

I'd be ok with 18-24 months, with the caveat that FL release Romans IMMEDIATELY!! ^&grin

Wow I thought this topic was going to be about something else at first. Because if you want to know about dry spell just talk to KGB. You know what they say, happy wife, happy life. Moving on, guess its just a matter of personal opinion but considering the usual volume amount from K&C and all the new items from JJ(which are pretty freaking awesome I might add) I've got the problem of deciding on what I want first. To me its like toy soldier triage in terms of selection. Each to their own though and you have to collect what floats your boat so I certainly understand that aspect of it.

Keep it silly

Beau Geste is about to announce a new line in matte finish, Thomas Gunn is about to announce Napoleonics, First Legion will most likely sooner than later announce at least one additional line, K&C just announced the "Napoleon in Egypt" line. Beside that there are currently several lines out by various mfrs. which I like and with picking and chosing from them I can easily "burn" the budget of an entire year or more than that :wink2:
So, while it is always exciting to see something new coming up, I don't want to ask for more, more, more, 'cause I wouldn't be able to purchase it anyway.

I'm just the type of person that likes to see new stuff come out.I don't mean new things in existing lines but new ranges altogether, new terrain items etc..There's a 99% chance that I won't buy anything but I still would like to see new ranges, especially with the quality nowadays.I did forget about the Napolean in Egypt but I'm not really into Naps. It's just that were almost a quarter of the year in and nothing really new has come out.To be honest I'm really looking to see what FL and CS has coming.

It dosn't really encourage the production of new items when you say there is a 99% you won't buy them. Why should the makers go to all the trouble and expense just for you to look at? Trooper

I don't think that makers will make their decisions based on what I alone say.I think everyone looks forward to seeing new items.I've spent a lot of money over the years so just making the comment about 99% doesn't mean I won't buy anything.

I personally guarantee I will not buy another new line for the next several years. "New" as I define it is something I am not already entrenched in- for example, say First Legion does Rome, I would aggressively pursue those or Thomas Gunn does modern- I would aggressively pursue those. I really cannot look to get spread out too thin- really contemplated KC's Life of Jesus line but nixed it for the simple fact I am spread too thin already.

The only "new" line I would enthusiastically support would be a Braveheart themed line- historically accurate or otherwise somewhat fanciful (so long as it doesn't have hobbitts running around in kilts wielding claymores ^&grin).

I have no problem admiring peoples collections through personal visits to their homes, seeing the stuff at shows, pictures here on the forum, etc. I simply have no interest in getting into anything new at the mo.

I have decided to stick to WW II European theater items from here on out. This alone will keep the display shelves full and the checking account tumbling !!! :salute::

I am only maintaining two lines: W. Britain ACW, and First Legion AWI . . .
:smile2: Mike

Those 2 lines are more than enough.Really great ACW collection and I'm sure your AWI will be too.

Well this question now seems moot to me. With FL's new Roman line and the long awaited Chosen Men addition to the Napoleonic range; not to mention their new fighting Scots, I am up to my ears in things to get. Using Chris's standard, I suppose none of these are new ranges to me since I have been collecting NAPs and I have some Conte Romans but they certainly are new in terms of what they are delivering. Anyway, I am more than content.
