Durbar Collection (1 Viewer)

Hi Dave
The Tradition sets are still available as castings (www.traditionoflondon.com)
Go to the Toy Soldier listing on the left of the home page and the Elephant set is part of the British Army list. These Elephants are resin but with white metal trunks and tails. There are other Elephant and Guns sets available these two are made by Fusilier Miniatures and are all white metal (hollow). By the way your Durbar collection looks super displayed like that (I like Elephants!!!)
Regards
Jeff

Dave you can get any Tradition casting from Tradition USA. They have everything in stock. Phone # is 952-890-1634. They don't have a website.

Excellent information Guys! Thanks so much. Also glad you are enjoying the display.

Dave et alia Durbar collectors,

EBay has a Britains 8848 elephant at a low start right now, closing in about 3 days.

I was luckily able to get another recently so I won't be bidding. I now have all 4 elephants.

Congratulations on the 8848. The prettiest one in the bunch!

Here's my elephants! It took me 7 months to get them all, once Dave, Vamp and the others got me hooked on the Delhi Durbar series. I think I recall Ken or someone saying that Britains will be returning to the Durbar series sometime - hopefully soon.

A very nice collection you have there, well worth the wait by the look of it.

Hey Hugh,

Glad to see you have finished the elephants! They are some of my favorites!

Look forward to hearing what else you are going for now!

All the best

Dave

Good job! never did find the gold one . Someone convinced me to go after the 8848.:D

Hi All,

I have been working on some ideas of how to display a figure or group of figures using different back drops such as old stereo photos or single photos of an event and adding the corresponding soldiers from my collection to the foreground to try and bring the momment to life. So here is an example of a photo taken at the end of the procession with Lord Curzon and his wife sitting on their elephant as the final elephants from the review are passing.

I hope you enjoy this idea it is not mine originally but I saw something similar in the Collectors Club magazines incorporating photos and militaria like Medals or other bits of equipment to help bring the event to life.

Hi,
It looks really nice! It adds historic depth to any collection. Congrats.

Cheers,
Paulo

Dave, Looks great! I will have to try something like this in future.

Looks great and a great idea. I was looking at a pic last night of the Queen in the Ivory Phaeton, I may have to photograph mine in front of that pic and see how it turns out.

Very nicely done Dave and encourage you to continue.

Hi guys

Been messing around with my colection while I do some dusting and decided to do a picture of Lord Kitchener in the Arrival Cerimony at the Durbar being escorted by a Squadron of Mounted Volunteers. So here is the picture I came up with.

All the best

Dave

Very nice Dave,

I love the mounted figures :D I see you have the IV Hussars officer, very nice. I am considering purchasing that particular figure :)

Hi Guys,

Yes indeed the 4th Hussars Officer is one my favorites I really liked the sculpt and painting is quite nice. Not of course a correct figure for the Durbar but I didnt have any other Hussars handy to act as the aide for the Commander in Chief of the Indian Army. Anyway I sort of enjoy messing around with my guys to create portions of the Durbar Parade that have yet to be done.

All the best

Dave
