This is an early rendering of Winston Churchill, in gloss. It doesn't look like him all that much but still a cool piece.
I am not the seller.
Looks like someone made a pre-emptive offer and got this item.
I think Brad is right on this one, more then likely someone contacted the seller and made an offer that was accepted.
Gee whiz I hate to think ebay lost a selling fee!![]()
I know you're very, very, very, very upset about that
Wonder how much was paid.
I take it you were bidding on it? The item hasn't gone more than $132 since I've been tracking them. Sometimes those pre-emptive bids are higher than you might expect.
I sat on this one watching it with an intent to place a late bid.
Early bidding on the part of propective buyers on a "hot" item serves only to ramp up the bid price way beyond the open market value.
However, making a late run for it also has a big downside.
Raymond.

Don't feel to bad, this piece pops up on Ebay at least a couple of times a year. Quite often it goes unnoticed, and there is a good chance you will pick it up at a nice price.....if you keep an eye out for it!
Its not like some of the other pieces that usually have a half dozen people you have to contend with.
Good luck!![]()
Hi Njja,
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement.
That is the way it goes with collecting retired pieces.
You win some and you lose some.
At the end of the day.....no big deal.
Best Regards, Raymond.

My pleasure Raymond, one thing I have learned over the years you can find
anything you are looking for if you just keep looking!
When I first started collecting Lionel Trains a Standard Gauge Blue Comet
was a really big deal! People talked about them all the time, many had never
even seen one except in books. If one showed up at a train show or if a
fellow had one it was quite a big deal.
One winter night I got a call right at dinner time. The end result was a
Standard Gauge Blue Comet sitting on my dining room table! It was found
at a home less then a mile from mine! Within 3 months I had a second! Soon
the phone calls made me a bit nervious and I decided to pass both on to
other collectors.......heck I was only 27 at the time and had just bought my
first home. You can find anything you want.....you just have to know where
to look, and be very lucky!![]()
