Brian any chance of 1 of these in the near future or anything else GREY ?

Wayne; I think Brian may have soured on the early Tiger I. You may recall his supplier delivered the models with the wheels on wrong. Had their been no problems the desert version he offered could easily have been reissued in a nice Panzergrau! I am sure that most of that offering is sitting on a shelf in Texas awaiting revision if that is possible. I agree a Panzergrau Ausf E would be nice. I think it would be even more interesting to do the Porsche VK 4501; as an engineer I love prototypes! To Zimmerit or not to Zimmerit is the question. Regards

Agree mate it is a real pity about the DAK wheels stuff up had GREY written all over it.

Wayne; my favorite early Tiger I in my collection is a 1/25 Tamiya model that comes molded in Panzergrau. The details exceed toy soldier panzers in every respect. The turret has interior detail, all hatches open and close, tracks are articulated and the suspension moves. 1/25 scale is 70mm. The larger 68mm figures from TCS, K&C and Thomas Gunn work very well with these models. Assembly is easy as the parts are much larger and less fragile than 1/35 scale. The model is alo very accurate in proportions and details. Ebay often has these at auction and they usually cost about $75.00.

Tamiya also has a T 34-85, SU-100, Panther Ausf A and Jagdpanther in 1/25 scale; these are available on Amazon. I have all of them in my collection and display them with the K&C Panzer Komander figures in the turret hatch. The deck height on my Tiger I is 72mm so a 1/28 scale 68mm K&C or TCS figure stands just below deck height as you would expect for a man 5'9" tall. The nice thing about plastic models is they are very light relative to their size and a normal shelf can accomidate many of them. I used to use Tamiya 1/25 scale figures with these models as several come with the kits; but since K&C et. al. increased their figure sizes to 68mm on average I have been using them with great sucess.

Just curious, but which K&C figures are you referring to as being 68mm and how are you measuring them?
I've got shed loads from all eras and with only a couple of notable exceptions, they tend to vary between 61 to 63mm in height (sole of boot to top of head - or best guess when with headgear) and nowhere near the 68mm you state is average.

Wraith; The K&C Waffen SS Panzer Ace with Camo pants and Binoculers measures 68mm from the top of the base to the top of the head. I also have TCS and Figarti figures that measure 68mm. The Figarti figure that comes with the Panther G is 68mm and has no base. standing next to the Panther his nose is even with the top of the deck. Very tall for a Panzerwaffe! The move to 1/28 figures includes all manufacturers of 1/30 Toy Soldiers except First Legion in the WWII ranges under discussion. Older figures are smaller but recent figures have grown to the point they look silly with the vehicles. I find the 1/25 Tamiya armor is a more realistic match with the larger figures. I show some photos of these figures with 1/24 Panzers in a post on the Matt Discussion thread titled 60mm figures with 1/24 Panzers. 1/25 and 1/24 are almost equivalent in plastic models, close to 1/24.5 by actual measure. Wayne has some very nice photos of K&C figures with 1/24 scale vintage diecast cars on the same thread and the size match is very realistic IMHO. The funny thing is that the standard figure size in Europe in the 1930's was 70mm 1/25 scale. The manufacturers are reverting to that scale from the British 54mm 1/32 scale where they started. Regards

Wayne; have you considered repainting the K&C Kursk or Tunisian Tiger. They are accurate models and Acrylic paint is easy to apply. I agree with your comment on FL cost. I like the pieces but the price point is rediculous IMHO! I see a slow down in new products in the Toy Soldier business over the last two years; plus price increases and quality decreases indicate an industry with a shrinking market. All of these conditions caused me to return to model building for armor and aircraft that will work with the excellent figures from K&C and TCS. Regards

I haven't considered a repaint yet,but i also haven't bought this TIGER yet either it might be a bit small with K&C figures that,s why I'm hoping TCS have a BIG one in production/on the drawing board.

Wayne; The Figarti Tiger I tank models are a true 1/30 scale as measured. The deck height will be 60mm. A K&C or TCS figure would be between 65 and 68mm; which puts the head of the figure above deck height. The Figarti armor is perfect with First Legion figures. Thomas Gunn armor is about a true 1/30 scale as are the K&C early Tiger I. I have several Figarti and Thomas Gunn Panzers and they are high quality with great detail and excellent paint. The current range of figures are just too large for realism. The half figures in a hatch work ok as height is not an issue. K&C half figure Panzerwaffe are great pieces.

Yes, that is a winner formula: KnC figures with TCS vehicles {sm4}

Chemibay; the Tiger I you show is by K&C; true 1/30 scale and the deck height is 60mm; the same as the Figarti Tiger I's. TCS figures would be 6 to 8mm taller than the deck. 10mm at 1/30 scale is equal to 1 Foot. Very tall Panzer Truppen. First Legion figures would be a better choice! TCS made two Tiger I Panzers in 1/28 scale which everyone agreed went best with the current size of figures from K&C, TCS et.al. The large Tiger I's did not go with the smaller 1/30 vehicles and had to be displayed as a stand alone with the figures. Many collectors do not seem to care about the size difference between the figures and vehicles. I find the discussions of interest and I wonder where the trend of larger and larger figures will end up. I remember the bags of troops and tanks at the 5&10, when I was a kid where the troops were twice the size of the tanks!

The TCS Winter Tiger is massive and by far the most impressive that I have seen. Might come in dark grey if that is what you are looking for.

CSoo524 is the most recent version of the TCS Winter Tiger. At 1/28 scale as measured it is quite large; it is a late version Tiger I with steel wheels. You can easily find them on Ebay. The only early Tiger I made by TCS, to my knowledge has the wheel error previously discussed. The only currently available early Tiger I in Panzergrau lage enough to work with the current range of 65-68mm figures is the 1/25 scale Tamiya model; which can also be frequently found on Ebay at about $75.00. A great model at a great price! VS Tank produces early version Tiger I RC Tanks in Panzergrau in 1/24 scale; which are very nice working models in plastic. The latest K&C early Tiger I with Zimmerit is a very nice model and the full figure that comes with it is correctly scaled to the Panzer. Possibly the Panzer has been re-scaled to 1/28. I have requested a measurement for the height of the deck, but I have yet to receive a response. Zimmerite is unusual on an early production Tiger I. Repanted Panzergrau it would be spectacular IMHO. The photos I have seen it appears to be painted a dark green color! Regards

What he said Wayne. LOL.If I can find one in the shop or maybe I have one...... I'll have to look. I will see if I can get an deck height for you.:p

Kilted Vampire; I will be very interested in learning the deck hight of the K&C WS311 Tiger I. The width would also be a useful parameter in calculating the actual scale. This is the first K&C early production Tiger I; that I have seen where the figure that comes with the vehicle is proportionate. I understand that historically the revised turret with the low cupola and the application of Zimmerit were simultanious revisions in mid to late 1943. Are you aware of Early production Tiger I's with Zimmerit? I have been unable to find a photo in my library. I suppose it could be considered a field application to an older or repaired vehicle. IMHO this is the best Tiger I K&C has made to date; except for the choice of color! Regards

It's the new sizing scheme where there are no references to scale. The new standard will be called "Just Right" The makers will also introduce "Just Right" sizing of other products including porridge, chairs and beds.
