Post christmas ebay bidding looks sick.

Perhaps economy is catching up to even k/c collectors?

What will ws 041 go for??

499 minimum bid??

Thanks

I will have to admit ....I have bought some items which i could not find from other sources and had to go to Ebay........I have noticed items selling much less than they were a year ago!!!!!!

I think it all depends on what you are looking for and who else is bidding! Toy Soldiers accross the board still seem pretty strong to me. I have seen a PM 1 Napoleon go for $425 this year as a single figure. I have seen a Mussolini Staff Car set sell for $550. I have seen the original WS15 Tigert Tank still bring 500 plus. The Winter Tiger still commands regular upper $400s. Another example is original Arnhem and Vietnam, put them up there and watch out!

I think what you are not seeing is the recent retirements jump through the roof in value like the older stuff. The older stuff is still pretty strong. As for WS41, who knows, it is a real hard set to find Mint in the Box. A lot I looked at over the years were damaged or missing figures.

I think any given day still applies to ebay, you can still find real bargains too!

Just don't start collecting Trophy of Wales unless you are really prepared for sticker shock! What most collectors fail to remember on these is that they were very expensive at retail when they were originally sold!

I haven't bought anything on eBay for over a year. I sold a few items in the past year, but I don't do that anymore either. I'd rather take my chances on the Treefrog classifieds.

A Stug IV just went for $306.00... That's about $30 more than usual. It depends on the item. The "General Inspection" set seems low now, a good time to grab it. The Winter Hummel is trending upward.

WS041 always seems to go pretty high. Thats why I never got one, it looks like a really great set.

It's one of my favourites. Even though it is an older set, the colours of the tank and uniforms and the poses really seem to capture the feeling of blitzkreig. And it goes well with the Fields of Battle range. If it can be had on e-bay for less than $400, IMO that is a very good price.

This is why we warn some of the folks on the forum about the idea of collecting these items as "investment". They are so subject to economic variability. Buy the stuff you like or that interests you. I agree that some items/sets seem to hold a high value, primarily because they attract the fans not necessarily the investors.
