I had a buyer today purchase a very expensive item from me; the Figarti Morser/loader/crew.

The shipping address is;

ALEX/All American Auto Parts Inc.
3556 Kennedy Rd
South Plainfield NJ 07080-1902

However, when I click on the buyer Ebay ID, it shows they are located in the Russian Federation.

I believe Mike Miller awhile ago had a similar situation, he shipped an item to NJ..............it was then shipped to Russia........and arrived damaged.

And if memory serves me, Mike was SOL, he had to take the item back and refund the buyer.

Can anyone chime in here as to what their thoughts are on this?

All of my international sales go through the Global Shipping Program as it protects both me the seller and also the buyer in cases of damages.

As the saying goes, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck.

Ebay customer service told me I'm protected, but I'm not sure?

I got a couple of calls and emails from people who've dealt with this buyer; he's good to go, thanks everyone, just wanted to be sure, it's all good.

George, a similar thing happened to me several years ago. A Corgi 1/72 diecast metal bomber supposedly suffered some damage in transit. The addressee was a friend of the buyer who lived in another state in Australia and he had posted the parcel on to them.

Despite an existing eBay policy that said there should be no third party addresses I was still held responsible for the damage, I issued a partial refund to resolve the claim.

Hopefully eBay will support you, particularly as another country is involved.

Hi,

This has happened to me too a couple of times. If you can prove to ebay that address in the US is simply a freight forwarder (as his ebay id shows russia) then you are off the hook. In my cases the UK addresses were clearly freight forwarders and ebay agreed so I was not responsible for any damage when it reached its final destination (mine were both China). This is because any damage was likely caused when the freight forwarder sent on to Russia - which is nothing to do with your ebay transaction. So check what that company does. should be be able to google the services it offers.

The problem may be if its not a freight forwarding company but just an address of a buddy of his. but even in this case you have nothing to do with it being onshipped to Russia!

good luck.

if it comes back to you damaged let me know if you want to part with it - I will take it damaged or not.

Cheers,

Stefan
