Hi all just wondering who has been to one?Im thinking of going to the one next year in SYDNEY and want peoples feedback i personally think it will be great i watch the TATTOO every year on tv,but going would be awesome.

I went to the one in Edinburgh 20 some years ago and it is still vivid in my mind. Since then I have been to numerous military music events, especailly if they have pipe bands. If you like military music and traditional pomp - go for it. Check with NSHighlander, he is a drummer and particpates in the Canadian Tatoos.

Hi
I`ve played in the Edinburgh in 2002 and 2004,plus many others around the world. The Edinburgh Tattoo is the best to me.The sound of 14 pipe bands marching onto the parade square in front of the castle is something to see.If you ever get to Canada the Nova Scotia Tattoo ranks up there also. You can catch NS Tattoo on youtube.
Cheers
Dave

Wayne, the best one I saw was in 1988 here in Australia. It was the Bicentennial Military Tatoo.

I have been to others but that was the best.

My birthday is in November and I believe the missus has already purchased 2 really good tickets for that same Edinburgh Military Tattoo which will be held at the Sydney Football Stadium.

Are you ex-Army too?

P.S. I'm a Sydney Roosters' season ticket holder and I might find myself sitting in my season seats. :D

Cool. I was a Silverfish attached to 18 TPT SQN WKSPS at Randwick which was a Field Force transport unit.

We had heavy Mack fuel and water tankers as well as International double and triple (N.T. only) road trains which supplied all ARA internal exs like Kangaroo 89 etc. We carried all the APC's for you 5/7 guys and for 2 Cav too.

That drill team was the best I have ever seen. Made the U.S.M.C. drill team look like amateurs. :D

Cheers Pete

We were stuck living in tents in the dusty outskirts of Darwin RAAF base for months.

God it was hot up there. Phew! :D

I know it was over 20 years ago but I seem to remember there was a big U.S. infantry contingent. Hawaiian based grunts I think?????

Well Wayne I did get tickets for my birthday after all. :)

2 x Gold seats for the Sydney Football Stadium tomorrow (Saturday) night. I could hear the fireworks from my place in Coogee from the Thursday night performance.

Only problem is it has been raining for about a week and there is more expected along with thunderstorms for tomorrow night.
