Nice collection Martyn and excellant photos! Great stuff. Chris

Nice depiction of Fighting Mac saving the day at Omdurman. ^&cool^&cool Kitchener, great on logistics but not much of a field commander, had declared victory and ordered the men into marching formation for a triumphant parade into the Khalifa Abdullah's capital. Several thousand Mahdists, hidden in a dry wahdi, chose this momment to attack. Hector MacDonald, a ranker promoted to officer for heroism, who had managed to rise from Private to General, ordered his men to deploy in a crescent shaped formation and engage the charging Mahdists. It was a close run thing - his men had an average of five bullets left in their pouches when the Mahdists finally broke - but Fighting Mac's cool leadership saved Kitchener from joining Valentine Baker Pasha and Sir Garnett Woseley as British officers who failed in the Sudan.

Many thanks for that info Louis:salute::

Brigadier-General Hector MacDonald was also known as Fighting Mac, he committed suicide in 1903 following a scandal

Great collection and great display. Did you set your figures up this way for the photo or do you display them like that permanently?

Thank you for posting these pictures.

A very impressive collection and thanks for posting.

I never fail to associate the Battle of Omdurman with Corporal Jones from Dad's Army.
