Andy.

I would just like to ask if you feel that 'The Sudan' would be a positive instinct?

Thanks

Dear Andy, not being one to customize my tanks, how about vehicle and figure ,stowage and accessory packs ,for those ,who have no problems in gluing extra things on their tanks and vehicles for uniqueness...Also, I imagine there are sticky note type of clear paper out there to make overlays of numbers with reasonable background color match, to change hull and turret numbers, as well as add insignas to existing K/C vehicles. Michael....again, maybe a future K/C options pack..

Dear Andy,

Like, when did you ever get it wrong? Only kidding, but in all seriousness, even though I read certain critisisms on this forum (which I won't go into here), the general balance between accuracy and realism (not always the same thing), - and value for money, is just about spot on. IMO.

:)Build-A-Rama makes a whole bunch of "stuff" like crates, duffel bags, jerrycans, etc that look great alll over my K&C vehicles. Thick thread makes good rope or twine.
Try it you'll like it!!!:D:D

Hi Guys, Re Oz’s comment, “I seem to recall Andy saying that he started up K&C for collectors, or did I just imagine that?”

What Andy said (and has said many times) is that I started up K&C as a collector myself. My main intention was, is, and I hope, ever will be to make all the soldiers, vehicles and dioramas that I always wanted as a little kid but either
a) Couldn’t get (because they just were not available) or
b) My hard-working, working class parents couldn’t afford
And that is what drives both me and K&C forward even to this day.
As I’ve also written before on this forum there are hundreds… thousands of
suggestions and ideas floating around just waiting to be picked up on. Some are great… some are good… and some are just plain daft! The not-so-great secret is in the selection process of deciding what is a diamond and what is a piece of dross.

My good friend and fellow collector Steven Chong as usual “nailed” the subject right down on his most recent post. What he wrote is what I believe, Stay focused… don’t go off at a tangent… no matter how tempting these little “brainstorms” some collectors come up with. I read what you post… I listen to what you say… I try to look at the overall big picture… and finally, I trust my own “gut instinct” and knowledge of the hobby and the business to make my decisions.

Sometimes I get it wrong… mostly I believe, I get it right. Fortunately the vast majority of K&C collectors and dealers seem to agree… most of the time. I’ll settle for that… what d’ you think? Best wishes and happy collecting! Andy C.

Andy, you keep make'um and I'll keep buying'um. I am so easy.

In regard to Steven' comment about Henry Ford, these are not cars. I agree with Steven on many issues but to compare model T's to K&C miniatures is just not right and in Andy's words it may be even a bit daft. K&C miniatures are produced for collectors of rare and fine scale military figures and vehicles. Henry Ford also recognized that he had to pay his production workers a wage capable of buying his product, so he was almost an outcast among his fellow auto makers. He was called everything from a Bolsivick to a socialist to anti american. Is numbering tank hulls with distinct numbers unreasonable, I don't believe it is. Will it add more expense, yes. Can all the numbers be from say 1 to 999 be used, no. Historical accuarcy would dictate that the tank hulls be numbered as they appeared in their combat units. Most often hull numbers referred to their place in the military structure of their regiment or battalion or company and many numbers were shared, just by different units. Example S3 or 223.

Anyway, now for more daft ideas - Bedford Lorry for FOB and Dragonwagon for DD. Daft.. its just a matter of point-of-view.;)

Michael,
I think what Steven was meaning was standardization helps keep prices down for the consumer.

On a separate note, the daft comment probably referred to my suggestion for different heads to be offered for certain sets where it might be appropriate. There are in fact aftermarket items available for those like me who would like some slight options. In addition, there must be decals or dry transfers available on the modelling market for those who want to individualize their vehicles.
As I mentioned in a previous post, this thread was only meant to be a "bouncing ideas around" exercise. It wasn't intended to be one of those deals where "we want this, and we'll have one of them. Yes - and we want one of them too". As Mr Neilson stated, and please understand that I'm NOT quoting him word for word, there are lot's of ideas jumping around, some are great (including a few of Mr Gambale's ideas in my opinion). Some ideas are good, and some ideas are just pure keeich. (Looking forward to what spellcheck makes of that last one :p). From my personal point of view, if just one of those ideas turns out to be a gem, then all the rambling "I Want" posts simply must be worthwhile wading through. Are the spectacular new LRDG sets a result of the "I Want" posts? - I have no way of knowing - But to a certain extent, I'd like to think so. :)
Just my 2 RMB's worth.

PS. Have done my sums. Think I can get at least the two Chevvy's and the Jeep in October - Whoop-De-Doooo..........

Very Best Regards
H

That's the second time I've been right this year  :D

For those who want customized figures/tanks/armoured vehicules, just ask our friend Alex to do the job. He is incredibly talented. He modified a WS080 for me last year (winter camo to Normandy camo). My cost was 200,00$, vehicule + figures, shipping fees Texas/Québec included.

Salut Pierre,

You Right, his is very talent, he did a nice job with the kettenkrad (see pics on the Painting session) and he gave to me some tips for painting my two Waffen SS winter version.

Cheers :)

I would like to see K&C make a more accurate Panther, I noticed on the Normandy Panther and the previous models, they all have the all steel rimmed road wheels found on the Late Tiger, the King Tiger and the Jadgtiger. The type D, A, and G Panthers had rubber rimmed road wheels, I have seen some photos of a late model G Panther with these type of steel wheels that were being tested and or fitted to very late production Panthers. I am a tank nut so details like that stick out to me. I bet I will get flamed now. K&C makes the best products and I am just throwing in my thoughts and am NOT trying to start a debate or put down their products. I would give anything to have the WS023 Panther:)

Hi Gustav,

There is no gentleman who will fire at you.

Pierre.
