As it was a rainy day here, I thought to setup my 70mm Elastolin Diorama.

Mainly Painting 2 Versions from the 1960-1970s.

This is the largest collection I have seen. Love it. I trust these figures are difficult to get? I would love to get into it.

Elastolin was my favorite toy soldier maker for many years from the late 60's through the 70's. I had three of their castles and still have one in the smaller scale.
I have two of the siege towers and all the artillery. I bought directly from the importer of Elastolin (Reeves International) in 1972 over 1000 unpainted Landsknechts and Turks in 70mm.
Have sold many with my custom painting. I still have many of the Medieval figures.
There are some on Ebay but pretty pricey.

This is a great collection! When I backpacked through Europe in 1970 I spent some time in West Germany and bought a bunch of Elastolin figures to bring home.

Thank you ^&grin. I have another 50 Figures, mostly Romans and Gauls, but some of my Collector Friends have much more ...

Here in Germany they are not too hard to find and in 2nd Painting available at reasonable prices. And - remember - these were Toys in the 60/70s. So I am happy for any new Figure which I can add to the collection and I still find they look very cool

Fantsttic set up. Reminded me of an FAO Schwartz set up in their old NY store( mid 69s) in the corner, across the street from the later location in the lobby of the old GM building. That shop window stayed with me for many years. I painted many 70mm castings and eventually gave it a shot with Playmobil castle pieces. I even made a siege tower from scratch using balsa wood... what memories!
