The link above is an old 1915 newsreel showing Australian cavalry and infantry marching down to the docks in Sydney Harbour for embarkation.
On my recent trip to Australia I caught up with my Bro who has lived in Oz for almost 40 years. He too is a keen military historian which we both probably inherited from our army father. He took me down to Pier One/Sydney Harbour where the Aussie troops embarked to Gallipoli as shown in the newsreel clip.

The Pier remains practically unchanged from 1915 apart from a few coffee houses. Standing there was quite a moving experience. One could imagine that most of those young lads seen in the newsreel were no doubt excited on what they considered was to be a great adventure little knowing the horrors that awaited them at Gallipoli.
