As someone currently doing archaeology in Israel, the overall figures are not that far off from fact, especially when it comes to the weapons. The Kohen Gadol (High Priest) is almost exactly spot on. It is really only the Stars of David I object to.
As to what era, I can answer that. As Solomon was the son of David, there should not be much difference between the uniforms of the two armies (if any), and there should be no difference when it comes to the weapons. However, I can reasonably guess they are meant to depict the army of David, as the "Star of David" on their shields refers tot he real term for the symbol, Magen David, means "Shield of David." Most sources, however, agree that this symbol was first mentioned not by Jewish sources, but by Muslim, ones. Therefore, many conclude it was a Muslim invention and not a historical fact.
