Where can I get these???? I am actually in Jerusalem right now, so I obviously need to get at least one set!

The ENGINEER is on a roll!
If there was an annual toy soldier award for the most exciting company of the year,
I would have to give the award to ENGENEER BASSEVITCH !!
Especially because of the last two releases!
These new HEBREWS will keep your TSSD Romans busy.
There needs to be a committed BASSEVITCH dealer HERE in North America!
I would buy 3 of every set.

I will definitely buy some- I may buy a souvenir plastic set of men carrying the Arc of the Covenant while I am here in Israel, so I can paint it and add it to this group. It is interesting to note that while some of these figures show very accurate detail, like the Kohein Gadol, others use anachronistic detail, such as the overuse of the Magen David. I don't mind it, but I may file off the stars and replace them with more correct decoration. On another note, I actually just purchased an original dagger from this era- that is to say, the blade of such a dagger. I may display them together!

What era of "Ancient Jews" are these figures representing? I'm questing David or Solomon. Who is the female figure?

As I understood, figures based on medieval/renaissance prints and costumes from movies, so here no historical accuracy.

It's as "hollywood romans" from classical movies of 50-60's. They are pretty spectacular, but completely non-historical.

As someone currently doing archaeology in Israel, the overall figures are not that far off from fact, especially when it comes to the weapons. The Kohen Gadol (High Priest) is almost exactly spot on. It is really only the Stars of David I object to.

As to what era, I can answer that. As Solomon was the son of David, there should not be much difference between the uniforms of the two armies (if any), and there should be no difference when it comes to the weapons. However, I can reasonably guess they are meant to depict the army of David, as the "Star of David" on their shields refers tot he real term for the symbol, Magen David, means "Shield of David." Most sources, however, agree that this symbol was first mentioned not by Jewish sources, but by Muslim, ones. Therefore, many conclude it was a Muslim invention and not a historical fact.
