I do hope we all see this as fun. Dave, where in Western Mass did you grow up? I went to Law School in Springfield (back in the late 70s) and that was a hotbed of Yankee fans.

Hope you and your family have a great Christmas and wonderful New Years. That goes for everybody!

Cheers,

Absolutely, Brad! As a Phillies fan, I just have to speak up for our city.

I've said it before-there is a collective inferiority complex for Philly and the surrounding region, going all the way back to the Articles of Confederation, and the removal of the national capital to New York. I think we've never recovered from that. :)

Prost!
Brad

I would like to put in a plug for the wonderful San Francisco Giant teams of the 1960's. They had some fine teams doomed to finish 2nd forever. Their players included the great Marichal, Mays, McCovey, Perry, and the Alou brothers. Overlooked and underestimated, these were good teams. -- lancer

Brad,

They've got a great team right now. They're the team to beat in the NL as far as I'm concerned. Hope they keep Howard. I know he strikes out a lot but still has some incredible production, notwithstanding.

Lancer,

Those were great teams. It's unfortunate the Dodgers were a little better. They had good teams in the late 80s with Leonard and Will Clark.

Brad I wasn't diminishing what Jackie Robinson did or his ability as a ball player. What I was referring to was I believe Burns using so much of his documentory on Robinson breaking the color barrier. It was huge, but not the defineing moment of major league baseball.
I,m in my early sixties, which means I grew up with baeball in the 50's & 60's.
No one can ever convince me that those were not the best years of major league baseball.
My whole spring and summers were devoted to playing some kind of ball, be it baseball, wiffle ball or whatever and collecting baseball cards.
I remember like it was yesterday when my friend knocked on my front door and traded me Warren Hacker so that now I just had the complete set of 1956 Topps cards. My first complete set.
This walk down memory lane is bringing tears to my eyes!
Gary
