Agreed .. generally speaking Polish troops in the Napoleonic wars had great looking uniforms and a fighting reputation to match.

A friend of mine recently showed some models he had picked up in Poland covering Polish soldiers in World War II. These were supposedly made by K&C for Del Prado for a series released exclusively in Poland. Since the end of the Cold War there has been a growing interest in Poland's ricjh military tradition for example large numbers of re-enactors recently travelling to Cassino for the 70th Anniversary commemorations and increasing numbers of Polish military magazines becoming available.

After watching the Polish 1959 film "Lotna"; I thought it would be interesting if K&C would expand its Fields of Battle line to cover early war polish troops. You could add Polish cavalry, anti tank guns or tanks/tankettes. The tanks would interesting due to size which should keep costs down. You could recreate the famous (so called) cavalry charge at Krojanty on the first day of the German invasion, 1 September 1939 as well. I am sure if K&C could do obscure units such as The 13th Waffen SS Mountain Division “Handschar” why not Poles... I can already see K&C debunking the polish charge in their Collector magazine... In terms of competition, I think only del prado did a single mounted and un-mounted 18th lancer so not a lot of competition in the matte arena. It would also complement K&C build out of early war germans.....

Gents raise your glasses to the People of Poland !
Surviving their own military dictatorship, Invasion by Germany and the Soviet Union. Enslaved by both. With those in uniform facing these invasions and after the Fall of France, The Battle of Britain. For those surviving Soviet hospitality / imprisonment, when finally released due to German invasion of USSR, a long trek via Iran to the Deserts of the Middle East , Men, Women and Children !
These same Poles fought with great Valour in the Allied cause in the Desert, Italy and both Western and Eastern Europe with perhaps their most painful, yet Glorious moment in the Warsaw uprising.

Sosabowski....Commander of the 1st Polish Parachute Brigade, as opposed to Jan Sobieski, King of Poland.

Interesting to read about him, his escape from Poland, organizing the Brigade to liberate Poland, and being sidetracked by Politics to participate in Market Garden.
