Absurd S&H X 100!

At one point that was a "TRICK to keep eBay fees low, but I thought that eBay caught on to this and now uses the shipping cost to calculate it fee. :rolleyes2:

I contacted him and he said that he “no longer ships enough to warrant time updating rates for shipping around the globe for every individual item. If there's a genuine enquiry will work with the buyer to find the most appropriate service for the total shipment.”

I generally stay off eBay as a lot of the shipping quotes are just too high. It has become ridiculous.

Just to weigh in with another viewpoint. I don't use ebay shipping and when you have to put quotes on there for West Coast and international, it is challenging. I tend to have to put in very high express shipping quote for Intl then I will adjust to actual for the winner or a lot of times, I get a question prior with specific request.

Where it is a pain for me is when someone in California buys the item, then pays right away at a lower domestic shipping charge, I will not recharge them more even though I say in my listing - West Coast at cost. It just is not worth it, so point being for me is it works both ways. Ebay is a pain when you don't use their shipping engine.

At the end of the day, it never hurts to email the seller and ask for an actual shipping quote.

No idea about how ebay shipping works....

I have bought off Colin many times - both a LTSS and ebay.

I would highly recommend him - top guy who is genuine and honest.

This seller is not using the eBay system. With his attitude I would never purchase from him as he doesn’t appear to give a darn.

Charging $112 for shipping is honest? You and I appear to have different ideas of what constitutes honesty.

Honesty to me is about how someone deals with you. Have you ever met or bought off him?

I have and have no reason to not expect him to do the right thing.

I met him first at LTSS where he was a dealer; he assisted me several times with retired pieces I wanted. Unlike some sellers / speculators who try and rip people off that was and never has been Colin’s style. He could have charged a real premium for those pieces but chose not to.

Ebay 4000+ sales and 100% positive so he must be doing something right!!! He has offered an explanation, accept it or not.

My point is that I would buy from him with confidence, to you he is just an ebay seller

Finally, if you really want that FL piece so bad, bid on it and get it sent to me. I’ll bring it to NY in my hand luggage next time I over :smile2:

I am honest guv, honest :wink2::wink2:

Good for you if you would buy from him. With his attitude, I would not.

What is the right thing. Not sure what that means. By listing that shipping price, he’s saying I can’t be bothered. I recently purchased two sets from a British seller and her shipping was around $30.

This is one of those figures that FL has discounted in price by half so if I want this price I will buy it from FL with free shipping, as I have just purchased several of these and if I line them when I receive them (either today or Monday), I may order the rest. Sounds like he is trying to take advantage of favorable pricing himself.

Gazza, I was probably a little too strong on my comments. I’m sure Colin is a fine and honest person and a good person to deal with in person. The shipping cost to the US is probably meant as a disincentive to US bidders since shipping overseas can be more trouble than it’s worth. I suppose I would have just excluded US bidders but that’s only my opinion.

Never met him, but I have bought from him several times and I have also always found him to be totally honest and helpful, also would have no hesitation in buying from him again.

Totally agree, bought off Charlie Brown soldiers for years and everything was OK, nice guy as well.

I think this maybe an error and I have contacted Colin to make him aware of the high costs he has put in for the postage.

Seems as my polite Ebay reply to your question fell on deaf ears. Judging by your comments about me that you've posted. I've enough to deal with currently on a personal level. Without this completely unwarranted slanderous trolling.

Suggest that we both regard the matter as closed and go our own separate ways. Never to cross paths again.

Before you start hurling around accusations, I recommend you examine your conduct in this matter. Moreover, accusing someone of defamation is actionable.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the interests of compromise, I’m prepared to regard, as you have requested, that the matter be considered as closed.

I, too, have no interest, in dealing with you in the future.

Well dear friends
I'm make no critic to specific buyer our seller here, just how I react to price on ebay
When I look for something outside my country ( Belgium ) on ebay, I always check yhr sending cost with the POST office of the seller country, in this case; England : https://www.postoffice.co.uk/mail/international-confirmed
+ taking into account the pack/box price

and ask eventualy the seller if there is a mistake somewhere before buying and if he accept posting regroup
And then only I decide to buy or not

But basicaly if the sending cost is clearly out of range I don't even read further
