I recently saw the German film Downfall (2004) about the last days of the Reich in Berlin. It has gotten me interested now in the K&C Fall of Berlin series. The film made me think of some possible additions to the series and I want to make this suggestion to Andy.

In the film there is a Hitler Youth unit defending the capital with panzerfausts and an anti-aircraft detachment of Hitler Youth(dressed in black panzer style uniforms) and Blitzmaedel ( the girls verson of the HJ). The film also reproduces the scene of Hitler awarding medals to a line of HJ boys. Andy has given us some nice figures of the Volksturm that defended the city so how about adding some of the HJ and Blitzmaedel? These might include the scene of the medals being awarded, HJ firing panzerfausts at the T-34 already in the K&C series and perhaps the flak unit including a Blitzmadel.

Wonder if there is any interest out there forthese kinds of additions?

If you have not seen this film it is a must.It is told from perspective of Hitler's last secretary. Available on dvd. Goes nicely with Antony Beevor's book The Fall of Berlin.

Andy has already done the Hitler Youth with an Anti-Aircraft Gun - on the other stuff not so sure. I wonder how popular the Berlin/Russians are ??

Anyone know?? Is it a big seller??

Doesn't seem to be in the same league as D-day,Bulge,AK & EA but its still got some appeal.I love the T34 and tanks riders.I would like to see a KV1 Russian tank or what has been suggested before a crashed Russian plane being inspected by German officers.

Rob

Do you think A Berlin 88 is more likely than an AK 88?.Wouldn't mind which myself, just want another 88!.I would also like some Russian artillery. There is a piece of often shown film of the fighting in Berlin, can't for the life of me think of the name of the Russian gun but would love some big artillery piece.

Rob

An A19 122mm maybe? That was the main tank killer I think used by the Red Army. It'd look pretty cool with a crew next to the T34.

Would sure look good next to the T34 in a rubble strewn street. The Berlin range has really grown on me lately and i may start buying some more of it,most of all would love a KV1.

Rob

A Josef Stalin tank would be a must as well.
On the German side how about some Nachtjagers with their infra red weapons and packs stalking the ruins?

Both very good ideas.Or some young Germans in ill fitting uniforms throwing their lives away?.Do you like the Katyusha rocket launcher?.I'm sort of keen but not sure about the windows.

Rob

To be honest Rob I'm a bit like you. I feel the blue windows let down what is otherwise an excellent model. I could get past the windows if the figures were a bit more interesting but I'm not that keen on the guy playing his accordion. The whole package is nice enough but it doesn't have that "WOW buy me" factor.

Do you remember in London Andy said that often models were retired because he thought he could do it better now?.I'm wondering if this is the case with the Katyusha, because compared to others its still fairly new.So i may not go for this in the hope he does it again. But even if he doesn't there's still plenty of excellant sets in the Berlin range.

I think the German 88 and AK Tiger are at the top of the list for upcoming KC releases. The 88 most likely would not be Berlin specific, but a generic western/eastern front version. It would be nice to have a choice of AK, winter, or regular. How about some female crew members for the "Berlin" 88 in Wehrmacht uniforms?

I agree a generic eastern version would be most welcome.

88's 88's 88's - thats all we hear

PLEASE ANDY - WOULD YOU MAKE AN 88 SO WE CAN END THIS MADDNESS.

(speaking of maddness - have I said we need some more NAPOLEONICS?) :D

I'm not sure where you guys have the impression that the 88 is at the top of the list. When I asked Andy about this sometime last year, he indicated he had no plans to remake it as, in his words (more or less), "it's very difficult to make."

Andy has been known to change his mind and this would seem to be a question that should be put forth to him again. However, until then....

For me the 'icon' of the Berlin fight is a massive 6 or 8 inch Russian howitzer firing horizontally down the street - ouch..... Those JS2 tanks (there were probably only a few but much photographed) with the white stripe around them to stop the allies from mistaking them  (just image a Brit tanker, 'oh look thats a big sherman/tiger/pz4.....I don't think so!:) )

Take it to the bank - its coming this year.

On what authority? From the man himself or is Ana making one?
