famous people that collect? (1 Viewer)

Actor Michael York had been a collector in the past... I saw a picture of him probably taken 30 years ago with a gloss figure Rorke's Drift display. The late John Entwhistle, the original bassist of the rock group The Who was a collector as well.

I wonder if anyone on this forum is actually someone we are talking about??? :)

I asked myself the same question.

Raymond.:confused::)

I have seen a few figurines in Mamie's knick knack cabinets at the Eisenhower Farm in Gettysburg. Eisenhower moved around so much in his career, the only collecting he did might be after his retirement to the farm. Much of the stuff there were gifts. My wife used to be a Park Ranger stationed there.

Hi Scott,

Ike was mentioned with Winston Churchill and others in the article.

I guess the 2 were not always talking about Overlord and Normandy.

Here is the link to the article:

Not the most likely website to find an article on model soldier collecting.

Thanks, Raymond.:)

Thanks Raymond. Good article. It's fun to point out the great men that collected when we get the "playing with little tin soldiers" jab.
Ted Turner might be a collector. I donated a few CW/WBTS figures to a charity. The lady that bought the set (a Turner employee) told me she gave them to him as a gift.

Mrs Evzone mentioned she read somewhere that Brian May of Queen collects or did collect.

H G Wells must of done. Edward Woodward wargamed so I'm sure he would of collected as well.

We've done Peter Jackson who commissioned the Perry Twins to produce a number of unique figures for him.

Max Hastings the writer I think has an interest.

Peter Jackson also collects from other makers, as does Phil Collins and some members of the Royal family.

Martin.

You May be;).We don't know who you really are do we?:D
Mark

I was told the writer Andrew Greeley collects. Jesuit priest who writes about Irish Americans having mystical experiences whilst solving mysteries. I kid you not. No jokes I love this stuff.
