i wonder if there are any famous people that collect military models.
well, they would certainley have the money for it.:p

Robin Williams, Jonathan Winters (if he's still living), a friend of mine whose name I can't disclose but he is a Musician, singer, politician and activist, Michael Meyers (Austin Powers) who used to get loads of green army men from me when I had the shop in NYC and there are a bunch more who just escape me at the moment.

Robin Williams is also heavy into cycling and has an awesome stable of road and race bikes.

Doesn't Peter Jackson collect? I also believe that Dr. Z from SI, the football writer, collects. Phil Collins I heard and didn't Andy mention that Rod Stewart does.

Yes Peter Jackson does too. He came into the store too when he was in NYC. I think he has a line of his own now.

I met Bruce Springstein at Burlington Antique Toys in NYC, he bought an entire shelf of Toy Soldiers.

I met Dan Akroid's wife Donna Dixon at the same shop, she bought St. Petersburg Figures as gifts for Dan.

Doctor Z does collect, he is one of my customers, comes out to the shows in PA and NJ (during the offseason, he's too busy otherwise).

Tom Berringer was at OTSN one year, probably about 9 years ago or so.........

I've spotted Springsteen a few times at "Hobbymasters" in Red Bank NJ. He buys toy soldiers and model trains.

I traded some pieces with Robin Williams about 10 years ago in NYC.
I also saw Phat Joe (the rapper) at a toy soldier show in NJ with his nephew.

Some "major" CEO's collect and have commissioned large scale dioramas.
Can't mention names but you would know thier companies.

Some serious money is spent on this hobby!

I may be wrong...but I seem to remember reading about Mickey Rourke buying soldiers in New Orleans.

Mrs Evzone mentioned she read somewhere that Brian May of Queen collects or did collect.

H G Wells must of done. Edward Woodward wargamed so I'm sure he would of collected as well.

We've done Peter Jackson who commissioned the Perry Twins to produce a number of unique figures for him.

Max Hastings the writer I think has an interest.

Don't forget good old Mr. Winston Churchill !!

You beat me to it Scott, was just posting to say that.If memory serves I think there is still a big collection at Blenheim Palace where he was born.

Yo Troopers, probably a lot more than we will ever know about. As you know I have been researching Chas Stadden 90mm models for some time now, and recently found out that the model I was lucky enough to acquire Musician 3rd Guards 1815 (as photo), there were actually three full band sets made for private collections, which I am not privileged to know who has them:mad: Only wanted a photo for my research not much to ask. Makes me wonder why these people keep things secret and in an inner circle, they can always show their collection under an assumed name, like (Larry Crunchbucket) or the likes lol. Well if it makes them happy keeping their collections to themselves bless their lttle cotton socks;).
Bernard.

BTW this model was only put together for photo, it has gone for a touch up.

Brits may remember the late Deryck Guyler of Please Sir! fame. He was an avid collector of flats and became Hon. President of the Society of Ancients.

Supposedly, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee used to visit Tradition in Shepherds Market, Mayfair

Check this video clip on Cushing's love for Toy Soldiers!

Author Mark Urban is a wargamer with a big collection of 30mm figures, as was London Mayor Boris Johnson who is said to have kept his collection although no longer games or collects.
