Shane,
You have made a few comments such as :

"As far as the Censorship Thread, I personally find it ironic that the Censorship Thread was in effect “censored” by it being closed to further discussion. I suppose it is arguable as to whether or not this occurrence proves my point".

"Anyone new gets ostracized within a few months".

"I suggest that you leave the moderating to the "current" moderators".

"I’m not at all anti-British".

Whilst you say you are not anti British the manner of your posts in the Britains Battles thread certainly would lead people to think you were out to provoke the British members. I dont think it unreasonable to conclude you were making an effort to be provocative. Whilst I requested the thread be re-opened I did regret that it caused your many provocative posts to be deleted. My theory is it is best to leave them up so people can make up their own mind about the person who made them.

Having been on the forum for several years my experience is that the forum membership is pretty good at working out who is out to provoke. Every 4-6 months such a person will appear and make themselves known with provocative and sarcastic comments to get a reaction. Over time more and more people pick up on it and this is manifested in people responding to disagree or "liking" posts that disagree with them and also reporting that persons posts to the mods. It is nothing to do with "clout" or "ostracing" somebody as when it happens it is mostly self inflicted. Yours is the typical reaction. After making provocative comments and people / mods reacting then it somehow becomes a censorship issue and you feel you are a victim.

As far as the censorship thread being closed I dont think it proves a point other than you were out to provoke again..What you may see as ironic others may view as an appropriate response from the Mods.

As regards your comment "you would have a different opinion if you met me in person as I am a very mannerly and respectful individual" we can only judge you on how you behave on the forum..

Hope that helps put it into perspective.

Regards
Brett

Gents...let's get back to the issue at hand, which I think had something to do with Normandy!

I do not want to make it a discussion of national traits but the Brits can be remarkably stoic (or is it stubborn?) in defence. This seems especially true of the paras.

We have to be mate, it's the weather. I WILL ENJOY THIS DAY AT THE SEASIDE AND THE RAIN WON'T STOP ME!!!^&grin:wink2:

Call me old fashioned........... and I'm probably going out on a limb with this, but I find the concept of a poll regarding your 'favourite/best division' ever so slightly disrespectful.

I may be reading too much into this, but I don't understand the point of such a poll, regardless of the result. The idea seems to trivialise the couragous efforts and sacrifice of others, what ever side you were fighting on. Not to mention the fact that it would be only natural to support ones own countrymen & women.

Again, I maybe reading more into it than I should, but I feel uneasy about such a poll, especially having now read some of the other posts. There seems to be more to these 3x threads than simple mathmatic's.....??

Just trying to find out what subject matter people are interested in. Pretty much every division in WWII had some sort of differentiating insignia or uniform variation. So as a modeler, figure painter, and diorama builder I wanted to know which divisions are the most popular with the forum community.

I think that most of you realize by now that I’m pretty serious about historical accuracy and I like for my work to reflect this.

No disrespect intended or anti-British/Commonwealth conspiracy. It’s sort of a market survey for possible artistic depictions in miniature.

Seems to me that Canadian drab deserves some more attention. And, again no intended disrespect to British Khaki. The popularity of the Para's is rather self-evident.

:)

This question goes out to the para fans.

Given the choice, do you prefer the red beret or helmet on your para figures?

:)

Thanks for your response and feedback, I still don't see the point of the poll, but then that's just me. I'm not overly fussy on insignia or uniform variation when it comes to TS. I think historical accuracy is important, but again I don't get too hung up on it with regard to collecting.

I appreciate the fact that's it's clearly important to you and others and I certainly don't have an issue with that.....but as I previously said choosing a favourite unit/division doesn't sit well with me.....I realise we're talking TS here, but maybe I know too many veterans to want to choose one unit over another.....it's just my personal take on the matter.

Kind Regards.

I am no expert but I would probably go with a maroon beret instead of red.
Far as I know you are correct...Red berets are now worn by Aust Military Police....I think the airborne mob would be slightly PO if the meathead's wore their beret...TomB

Yes, Maroon/Dark-Red Beret. Thank you for this clarification.

The red berets on the Conte Para figures were too bright. I definitely wouldn’t want to make that same mistake if I re-painted a few for a scene.

:)
