Favorite Prison Movies (2 Viewers)

Papillon is on tonight on TCM for those who may be interested.
I caught this. First time I've watched it all the way through since seeing it in the theaters. Quite a good show. -- Al

Here's a list of other obvious prison movies:

Nevada Smith had a prison sequence.

Deerhunter had a great prison sequence.

Stalag 17 William Holden

Bridge on the River Kwai William Holden

Empire Dawn Christian Bale

Rescue Dawn Christian Bale

Sorry to be late, but I see Brad listed Stalag 13 (I thought it was 17). To that I would one of my favorites, King Rat. The book was compelling. Chris

Sorry folks but I gotta ask this question. What is the fascination with prison movies? Hot sweaty men, close confined quarters? What's next, gladiator movies?

Gary,I can commiserate with your observation as I 'marvel' at this hobby's affectation with ALL
things NAZI.Yup,NEN (Never Enough Nazis)rules.SS/FJ/AK/88s/Tigers/Panthers..the real man's
war was located in the bigger ocean.Alas, the Japs had not one Tiger tank..pity that.
"The Hanoi Hilton" depicted the depredations of U.S.POWs..tough to watch ..but my choice here.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/03/22/jfks-diary-reveals-fascination-with-hitler-compared-to-legend.html

"A young John F. Kennedy filled dozens of pages in what historians believe to be his only diary. In one of the most interesting entries, Kennedy compares Adolf Hitler to a "legend."
After the fall of Nazi Germany in 1945, JFK visited Hitler’s bombed Bavarian Berghof residence and Eagle’s Nest mountain retreat.*

After the visit, which was part of his German tour as a Hearst newspaper war correspondent, a 28-year-old Kennedy wrote about his fascination with the dictator, who had just committed suicide four months prior to JFK’s visit.
“He had boundless ambition for his country which rendered him a menace to the peace of the world, but he had a mystery about him in the way he lived and in the manner of his death that will live and grow after him,” he wrote. “He had in him the stuff of which legends are made.

Kennedy predicted in his diary that Hitler would “emerge from the hatred that surrounds him now as one of the most significant figures who ever lived.”

That sounds like JFK before he broke free of his father's influence.

Ran in the family it seems with Joe Jr--".... a visit of his first son, Joe Jr., to Nazi Germany in 1934. In a letter to his father, he pronounced himself most impressed by the changes that Adolf Hitler had implemented over the past year; he hailed the sterilization law as “a great thing.” He further noted, “a great deal of brutality was on private lines” but that Hitler now had “Things well under control. The only danger would be if something happened to Hitler, and one of his crazy ministers came into power, which at this time does not seem likely.” The old man was quite pleased by this missive, writing back to Joe Jr. that his “conclusions are very sound.”

Gary,

You nailed it bro! Personally, I remember seeing a couple of those "ILSA She Wolf" flicks when I was a kid and I don't even to begin to remember why or where I saw them. They were seedy, creepy and though sexy they were kind of terrifying.
