February 2021 Figures (1 Viewer)

A new Napoleon! Will this be the start of a series covering Napoleon's earlier campaigns?

Brendan

Yes, I sure hope so.... he looks like it's pre-emperor era when he was the general, so should fit in with his Italian Campaign?

That's what I was thinking. Thomas Gunn could provide some nice coverage of that campaign.

I am loving the Carbineers and will get all 3. I have received my 3 versions of standing and firing and am mightily impressed. I would love to see more of Durnfords command being produced by TG

Thomas Gunn has greatly improved the quality of his figurines over the years, just think of antiquity (Greeks and Romans) and other eras.

But honestly I find this Napoleon mediocre .. Stocky figure, coarse sculpture (cloak, face) .. The feathers of the hat are as thick as bananas, roughly painted.

Definitely low value for money.

Hi guys the problem we have found using mailchimp for our newsletter is that you have to crop the pictures to get the best visual effect on a newsletter that is going to end up on peoples phones. Whilst this can look great on Mailchimp its not always the best presentation format on the forum where the pictures appear much bigger. As we have found in the past if you zoom in too close with figures on a photo they never appear as good as in real life. Last night my daughter was looking at a sample of Napoleon in our kitchen saying how tall he looked and here we have Poppo saying he looks stocky, it just goes to show you can get 2 totally different perceptions from 2 people looking at the same object but in 2 different mediums.
I have attached some photos of Napoleon uncropped, you can decide whether he looks the same, worse or better. Personally I think the best way to judge is to see him in real life. Its been a very popular figure with most of them sold out, so a good result for us. Its always useful to hear your thoughts and we appreciate your feedback. He was actually my favourite figure from this months release, but then I have seen him, you guys have not yet had the pleasure!

Napoleon figure looks good to me, though I'm saving my money for the Romans next month.

Fingers crossed for some new Romans next month, should be, i like the way TG [and JJ] release their ranges, both follow a 'bite sized' releases strategy of relatively small amount in anyone range and have a rolling process of missing out certain ranges, which is good for us that collect multiple ranges.

Sorry to break in on the Napoleon discussion.
But i wanted to ask the TG people:

I think the Korean war figures are magnificent! and I have already pre-ordered a set of 4.

However, looking at the pics of the officer. I assume his side arm is a US 1911 pistol.
from the back of figure(underneath the pistol) it looks like a 1911.
but from the front, it looks like a rounded flare gun, or Japanese Nambu pistol?

Will this be squared off just a little to better represent an integral and iconic part of the
US Marines equipment? Or, no time?
or perhaps the picture just does not have a good angle.

The M1's and Thompson look better than 100% of the other 54mm versions I've seen!
No complaint there!
These items were their lifeline in the Chosin breakout. They are an important part of the image.

Either way, I don't care, I love this set and will buy it.

Its a Colt pistol, maybe the picture does not do it justice, it happens sometimes - so back to Napoleon then! Thanks for buying by the way, looks like the whole batch now gone to dealers and customers who ordered direct.

I love Napoleonic figures, but sadly don't collect any, however this Napoleon figure is outstanding and appeals to me. I think its the eyes and stance with the blood red cape. Well done TG. :salute::

I must admit that I really hate in when there are multiple sets and pieces that I want to purchase during a single month, esp. with limited quantities.
Really applaud TGM for having some incredible offerings in the last several months; I just have to be selective in choosing what to pursue.

Re. Napoleon, I'm not into this theme/era, but I think it looks pretty nice as well.

Overall, nice job TGM with a fantastic line-up this month!

I went for Napoleon, Korean war 4 set of figures, German armour, Carbineers and Ox wagon. I just hope TG got my email in time to grab Napoleon.

Thanks Toddy, you obviously have a good eye!

I know my collecting is an obsession when I was slightly anxious about not getting the Napoleon figure. An email from TG last night allowed nights dark cloak to envelop me in blissful sleep.

The lesson is if you see something from TG you like grab it quick as it won't be around for long.
