Dragoon also note that these are grenadiers troopers!!!! Look at the shako and notice the triple grenadier flames!!!! Grenadiers should have a plume on thier shakos, Musketeers/line troopers only have a single flame on their shako plate and cartridge poach. These are grenadiers and they should have plumes also!!!!

The point I was trying to get over was that K&C are not the only manufacturers to drop off on this point.

To be honest - I am very happy that Andy is doing more countries in the Napoleonic Range ! :D

I hope we can get to some 1815 Prussians as well. :)

Ron,

Too right, makes a nice change from just British to oppose the French.

I just saw First Legion's French 61st Line in the Diorama section...

They're just awesome! Each of the line figures have a slightly different pose with different facial expression. They're very close to being real.

Now having some competition I hope K&C will finally realize the urge to play catching up!

They do look great and with all the Naps collectors here I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion. Maybe they need to be added under "Other Manufacturers".

I don't like the way the face is sculpted on these new infantry russian napoleonics.. Nose is way too big for me.. I've seen better from K&C.. However, it's just a matter of personal taste.. So it won't be for the plumes.. it'll be for the nose myself.. Indeed, I'm at the point where the most important thing for me in choosing the soldiers is by looking at how the face and the hands were sculpted and if shadows were painted the right way on the face.. (sometimes you can really see that shadows are barely done or if not at all).. So for me, I'm out... because of the nose :)

Alex (who has a small nose)

I've looked at their range too.. No the pose are not there yet... too stiff.. legs are way too small.. not enough muscle there.. paint job looks like being superior but then not so sure either... Is there a real contender for K&C napoleonics yet ?? (at the price of K&C of course).

Alex.

As a Napoleonic Collector - you are generally happy with any and all releases. It is interesting that they have limited distribution of the figures - Great for our George (Warrior) - not sure if how the marketing works on that.

I probally would buy the Napoleon & Officers Set - yes, I know big surprize ! - Need to see the others to decide.

Glad to have First Legion out there - but, lets face it - those figures are not K&C - the style, the size and the cost. Andy still has the best package going for figure to figure.

King and Country is the World Leader - this is just another example why - IMHO.

I think the new britains are the best bang for the buck as far as napoleonics go! I prefer 54mm and I can get these figures at a discount from various places and sometimes even cheaper on ebay.
The figures are improving in quality also and Richard and Ken seem to listen very closely to the requests of there customers.
I like K&C also but it is much harder to build up a good sized army of these guys and they are a bit to large to mix in with my other napoleonics.
Patriot are nice figures but are even larger then K&C and seem to have fallen off the map???? These figures are just to large anyway!!!
These new first legion look nice but are to rich for my blood and it looks like I won,t be able to find any kind of discount on these figures so I don,t know if i,ll be getting any of these??? I also don,t like the bases he has on these figures. I don,t like the black showing on the sides of the bases. If he was going to do sqaure bases wich I don,t like he should have at least tapered them down on the sides so you didn,t have that wide edge with the black showing on the sides.
Other then that they look really nice but just to much money for me to get into yet another line of figures.

Add plumes to the infantry figures and all should be right with the world.
Gunners, thats been mentioned but I doubt too many Napoleonic collectors will
pass them up because of the shako plate.

Too big for me, but I MIGHT pick up the mounted officer.Overall the Russians look well sculpted, detailed and painted. As for pose variation, theres only so much that can be done for tightly packed ranks of musket toters.
It's only my attitude, but I usually look at building armies or at least LARGE formations and start with the meat of an army, the line. Guards are limited in numbers and I concentrate on those last but thats just how I look at it.
Any new Napoleonic figures are a welcome sight.

Fish, You are right as usual.

Britains has many interesting napoleonic sets that K&C doesn't have, for instance, the redcoat in surgery that is new. Looks nice, will probably get it. But I have nothing against K&C. I like all that I have seen.

And, again, when can we expect those AWI Hessians that we saw a photo of earlier?

Thanks
