I know this has been brought up numerous times but here we go again.
I went to put my Figarti "Go for Broke" artillary piece on ebay, and guess what, "PAINT FLAKEING" on the gun.
Unbelievable, I never noticed it until today. Yet another Figarti set worth nothing. I thought it was bad with the flakeing on my eboat but here is another example of this inferior product. I remember when this issue first arose a few years back and it was blamed on one disgrunteled employee and I bought that explanation. BS, BAD PRODUCT, PERIOD.
Good luck to anyone when trying to unload this crap.
Look in the For Sale section as I,m selling "as is" for $65 shipped.

Gary...

That's rather bad. I would think that Figarti should refund the purchase price for these sets and, any that actually flake at all. No excuses help the collector who is out of pocket a considerable outlay. Its the reason why the remaining sets I had, several repaired by myself, were recently swapped. After the Nashorn flaked all down one front panel they were history.

Seems they should have changed the locks as the sly old employee seems to be still getting into the premises????

Gary,

How bad is the flaking? Can you post a photo. I can get that fixed for you so you can sell it for a good amount.

Brad can your man guarantee it wont flake at a later date ??
Then he is out of pocket for more money, plus the risk of damage in transit.
You know yourself FIGARTI,s second hand market isn't huge.

Wayne,

The problem as he has told me was that there was no primer. If a figure is properly primed, there is no issue. He fixed a Figarti figure for me a couple of years ago and it's still fine.

Brad

Yeah the bit he fixes will be fine what about the rest of the piece,or is it going to be a total re-paint,that won't be cheap,
4 figures and the arty piece.

That's why I asked for a photo. Chances are it could be a big job.

Not having a go at you mate for offering to help, but i just reckon FIGARTi should sort it.
I like FIGARTI have heaps of there stuff but this is becoming a worry that's all.

You would think that after so many years of this issue that someone at Figarti would realize that the problem is YOU CAN'T PAINT METAL WITHOUT PRIMER ! Does anyone there ever read these posts ?They must not because I never see any responses to the complaints posted here. Year after year of the same problem. I can't believe this company is still in business and why people continue to spend their hard earned coin on this companies stuff. Forget selling this stuff on the secondary market. It's easier to sell toxic waste.

Good point. I have fixed plenty and, you really have to play around with the entire piece not just what you can see is a problem. I lightly rub the model as this will always show where its going to start at a later time. Often I have seen and felt paint move from the model surface and all that is keeping it in place is its still attached to other paint. You push in and it cracks.

I had to strip the entire long tom when I did a repair for Neil. I have pictures somewhere saved of a silver model and a big pile of green paint!!!

As for expensive depends on who you go to!!!!

I would as others have mentioned also like to hear something from Figarti. Nashorn, Karl mosar to name two all peeled and were modern jobs so, what is causing that. I had other models all post dating the paint phantom. Actually, I am unsure what you can do to paint that can make it do this in terms of sabotage so, is it any wonder people begin to think the explanation was bogus???

I don't buy Figarti anymore. I had about 25 AFVs and have sold off half to 2/3 of them, mostly at below retail. There are several I am keeping just because I like the model so much. Otherwise, I have just resigned myself to have mede some bad purchases.

Terry

This story makes me sad. I have only one AFV from Figarti and never bought any other. From their figures with bad paint jobs and awkward proportions to their flaking paint jobs on vehicules, you wonder why they are still in business. stop buying that chinese crap !

Is Figarti's stuff metal and polystone? Is it the metal components that are the biggest problems? I have painted polystone and the finish seems bulletproof. Michael

A bit Harsh mate.....................^&confuse
EVERY company has had its problems.

No , I bought one of the Hueys and although its not major I had paint flaking on one of the doors which is not metal.
[still think its a really sharp looking model ]

I have seen the issues on both the metal parts and the non metal. I have however not seen any issues on the aircraft I still have the Owl and did have the winter ME110. Having said that having just read the Huey doors were flaking it just has to be poor paint application which, could have been, can be sorted ever so simply. Seems strange a company would not just sort out a decent set of paints and primer.

Really, Paint flaking on the new Huey models ????? Stukas with parts broken off out of the box.Who ever is in charge of Figarti's R&D department should be replaced as things are not working out.......IMO !!! :redface2: Repeated breakage, Paint flaking stories, etc has driven me away from buying anymore from this group.

One last comment on Figarti products. Don,t know if any of you had this feeling. A box of new Figarti products would arrive on your doorstep, you would bring it in the house, open the outer box, then stare at the Figarti box, AFRAID to open it as you knew there would be damage.
Finally two years ago I said this is insane, it should be fun. I corrected the problem and stopped buying Figarti.
Now I face the dilema do I sell my remaining Figarti, knowing for certain that the product most likely will not arrive safely at the new owners or do I keep them and wait for the paint to flake?
Sounds like I,m booking a loser no matter what.
Gary

Yes the dreaded opening of the Figarti box. The same feeling you get when your Doctor gloves up. They do make some nice looking models. The solution to all of their problems is so simple.
