Figarti prime-mover on ebay (1 Viewer)

Well, you know it had to happen. Firefly is on as well.
 
It's up over retail price as this point; and to think I was dumb enough to sell all of mine at retail.........:rolleyes:

I don't even have mine yet. My 88, prime mover and firefly are just nearing the Canadian border on the way to my house and people are already selling them on e-bay :(

The auctions just ended and the prime mover did ok for the seller, $274, whereas the Firefly not so hot, but over retail.
 
Looks like Crossroad Direct has another one up on ebay.
 
There seems to be a discomfort with a dealer selling stuff on eBay and that item reaching over original retail. I never understood that mentality.

There were numerous times when I found myself with an overstock on certain items that didn't sell in the shop - even when the set was retired. So, I would post them on to eBay with my usual starting bid of 99 cents and many would go well over original retail. Like the K&C WS71 and some other pieces. I think i may have "broken" a few records too as well as having taken one on the chin my fair share of times.

What is wrong with people (collectors and dealers alike) clearing excess inventory and getting a better price for it as a result?

I have taken flak for this over the years but never understood the attitude. If a dealer couldn't sell it when it was a new or current release then why criticize a dealer when they sell it as a retired one and they get a bit extra?

These makers need dealers and dealers have to clear inventory and find ways to make their businesses sustainable or by-by dealers.

I don't think anyone would have a problem with a dealer selling excess stock on Ebay, nothing wrong with that, clearing out stock to raise capital to buy new stuff.

What people do have a problem with is selling stock in Ebay that is what, two or three weeks old? Items that folks are scouring the country looking for. Would you call that "clearing out excess inventory", I wouldn't.

Regarding the Figarti items; I asked for enough of each to fill my preorders, ie, I did not ask for more than I needed to fill my preorders to be fair to all the other dealers. Why take more than you need knowing full well only 70 will be coming to the US? I was not given enough to fill my preorders, there were not enough to go around to all the dealers, so I had to tell the last ones in I could not fill their orders.

Do you think it's fair to the collectors who did not get a chance to buy the item at retail from their dealer of choice that they now have to pay through the nose to get it? Because I sure don't.

If I had extras of these, they would be gone as I had NUMEROUS inquiries as to whether I had any left over, which I did not.

Although I didn't express my feelings when I posted the most recent Prime Mover auction, George's post expresses my thoughts entirely. Moreover, it's gratifying to see that collectors have not tried to resell these items (yet) on ebay. They obviously got into the hands of people who wanted them for their collection.
 
I think all the collectors should have had fair chance to get them. No doubt about that.

I noticed that this seller is in Australia - could that have something to do with it? Maybe over ordered?

Sometimes I think people jump to conclusions or are quick to judge. It would be interesting to find out tho.

I also wonder how Figarti is holding up. With the very limited number of their new releases, are they able to absolutely sell all their inventory or is it hit or miss depending on the subject matter?

The person who started the thread is from Australia; the seller of both of the prime movers is a dealer from the states.

All I know is I had several customers asking for the 88 and prime mover and told them sorry, I am sold out, but try any of the other Figarti dealers to see if they have any extras.

Maybe no one called this dealer to see if he had any, so he decided to sell them on Ebay instead.

Yeah, ok then.

All I know is if I had a choice between peddling something on Ebay to the highest bidder or selling it to a brand new customer, making him happy and building a relationship with that customer going forward, I'd choose the latter, not the former.

You've been in the business longer than I have, so your guess is as good as mine......................

Hi Gideon im no seller just a very keen buyer,dealt with George many a time and always got great service.Im surprised there on ebay as i tried everywhere to obtain one and eventually found one its so much harder down here to get limited items because of time difference then there postage costs but wont go in to that but im no dealer matey............:D
 
There is now an 88 on ebay, at the really cheap price of $500 :rolleyes:
