Figarti Ready to Surprise (1 Viewer)

At its lunch reception on Saturday, September 23rd (1 to 3 p.m.), Figarti will be introducing and launching a new 1/32 line that has not been done in the matte, realistic style. We also have other surprises which will shock and stun the industry. It will be done the "Figarti" way. It is the vision of its founder, James Wang...

Is the lunch over now?

It's 12:30 a.m. and the long stunning and shocking day has worn me out, but I wanted to give everyone a quick report. Carlos said he would post some photos tomorrow.

Figarti had three surprises:

1) Operation Chromite, the invasion of Inchon during the Korean War. There are going to be 10 sets initially. Unfortunately, the shipment with these figures were held-up in customs and did not get to the show. Figarti was only able to show a picture of Gen. MacArthur and two aides, which had wonderful facial expressions.

2) PEGASUS BRIDGE!!!  Figarti had a 5' long prototype of the entire bridge made of plastic and wood. They had 8 prototypes of British paratroopers charging across the bridge with 4 German soldiers defending.

3) THE BIG SURPRISE WHICH REALLY SHOCKED AND STUNNED US: Tiger I mid-production with complete interior. The top of the turret comes off to show the gun, a loader loading a shell, and the gunner. The entire hull can then be lifed off to reveal the engine, gas tanks, fans, transmission, driver, radio man, and the compartments with real brass 88 shells!!!!! It weighs over 4.5 lbs and is made from over 950 pieces!!! Each track is a separate plate held together by two pins like the real thing!!! The hatches for the tank commander, loader, radioman and driver can be opened. The engine hatch can also be opened!!! Wait till you see Carlos' photos of these tanks. The pictures will be of prototypes with many details like machine gun magazines, canteens, personal items, etc. not yet added inside the tank. Each tank has 5 crew members (4 mentioned above plus commander). All are full figures with no part of the body cut off. The tank will come in 5 paint variants, and there are 4 additional tank crew sets with 4 figures each, which can be used outside the tank or with other 1/32 scale tanks like FOV.

There tanks will cost $299, with shipment to dealers in December.

That sounds fantastic, The toy soldier collecting budget might just have
too be stretched a little further .:)

Carlos

Thanks for the pictures. For us that could not be there this year they help relive the pain. Please post more when you have time.

Hats off to Figarti, those tigers are unbelievable and the Pegasus bridge will make a fantastic display. Nice job Steven and Carlos, thank you.:)

I don't want to throw cold water on what is an amazing (and, for lead toy soldiers, innovative) idea but the key here is going to be the packaging, an issue that all the manufacturers are struggling with.

I've had two Figarti tanks and both came broken. One I had to return, the other was an easy fix and they didn't have nearly the amount of moving parts this model does.

The packaging has to be equally innovative for it would be a shame if these tanks didn't arrive safe and sound because they just look awesome.

Brad,

We are continuing with improvements on packaging, so this issue is important to me.

But FOR YOU ONLY...... I will make you a state-of-the-art packaging that bolts the tank down to a base, with front and side airbags built into the box which automatically deploys on impact. Not to mention gel base cushioning system which is often found in high end running shoes.:D

Joking aside, I understand you concerns.

Question: will the Tiger be also available in desert (I know it's asking a lot)

Rick,

One more question: I read somewhere here where the Tiger is going to be a limited edition. How many do you envision? Obviously, you must be thinking doing this for other tanks. Can I put in a vote for a British tank.

I think this tank deserves its own thread.

One more comment: it almost seems unfortunate that the Tiger is announced with Pegasus and Korea. As great as those last two ideas are, they may get short (or shorter shrift) vis a vis the Tiger.

I know this is 1/32 vs K/C 1/30, but I would be curious as to how close in physical size these 2 companies might be with similar model? I only say this because if any one was to put any Figarti Stuart next to the new K/C version, they will find the phsical size to be equal. I only ask this ,as K/C guys could buy this tank and find that it fits in with their K/C Tiger. Michael

Brad:

I believe Rick said no more than 1000 total for all five versions.

Carlos

Carlos,

We've seen two of five versions. What are the other three?

You and Steven have done a fantastic job. Kudos to both of you for your reporting and pictures.
