Figarti Tiger (1 Viewer)

Terry, now you're really tempting me. Although Figarti AFVs are a bit too expensive for me, they're some of the best AFVs I own and I will splurge on them when they strike my fancy.

However, you do have to realize that production is limited to 100 and for something popular, you may have to strike your fancy sooner than you like :smile2:

As far as cost, at $269, I think it's competively priced, if you can find it :wink2:

That's the odd thing about Figarti, and some of the TGM and CS WWII pieces. They are limited in production and some of them strike the collector's fancy and sell out overnight. It can be difficult to predict which ones. I would not have guessed the JS-2 would be this popular compared to some of Figarti's other AFVs which are still available. And once gone, can be very difficult to find on the resale market.

I agree, it's been amusing watching the JS-2 auction on ebay (and more power to the seller, he's got a coveted item that's obviously in demand).
I love Figarti items, and was 'asleep at the wheel' on the winter tiger-do any e-tailers have any left ? I've not located one.

Personally I do not comprehend why a manufacturer would limit the production number a desireable product that sells well.... only to have speculators attempt to re-market "their product" and take away potential sales and profits from the manufacturer themselves....It is these manipulators who have driven up prices and ruin the hobby for the average collector.....hopefully these individuals are not dealers who engage in these practices.......some one is currently attempting to sell this Tiger Tank for $1000 on the secondary market.... wasting no time in trying to find a naive sucker.....Buyers Beware....RIDICULOUS and SAD INDEED

Frank,

Figarti is a small company and they way they make their models, their molds are only good for slightly over 100 of a particular model, according to Figarti.

Not all the products sell out quickly. It seems like about 10% sell out fast and they could have produced 200. Others sell more slowly and are still at dealers after 2 years. How do you predict the ones that will sell out fast? If the guess is wrong and 200 get made, that's a lot of inventory on dealers shelves for a long time.

Terry

I would confidently predict that producing 200 of an iconic WWII German Tank like the Tiger I, (done to the Figarti high standard of quality and detail) would gradually sell out easily....likely within 6-9mos....Which would allow legitimate collectors time to make purchases without panic buying......also re-releasing popular products that sell well like the JS-2 would result in increased sales and profits for the manufacturer......as well as discourage speculators from crawling out of the wood-work to capitalize and price gouge on limited production items in secondary markets like e-bay.....I would much rather see sales and profits go to the manufacturers then to the speculators.

Sadly, I don't think this would stop those whose only interest is seemingly fleecing certain collectors who did not buy the set when it was released. You are always going to get the plain greedy who will try to over inflate a price or, the plain stupid who will pay it no matter what the release size is.

Well let's hope Figarti make a different painted version of the Tig^&griner tank next

I think it's fairly obvious. The Figarti products that have sold quickly have simply been what customers had been asking for. A few years ago, it was the Winter 88 & Firefly that sold out in days/hours. The JS2 & JSU152 were almost that as good. Today we are talking about Whitmann's east front tiger-not too surprising. In K&C, the recent biplanes went fast, also the east front Pz.III which was on the market for a record short time. Both of these were were produced in low numbers & retired early, of which some dealers must have had advance knowledge looking at how they are getting trickled out on ebay every few months...often by the same seller (dealer) who obviously stashed quantities of them.

Blowtorch, If indeed certain "dealers"/speculators are routinely engaging in price manipulation practices on limited release products in secondary markets like e-bay, they should not be Figarti Dealers.....Figarti should be vigilant in this regard and remove them from their dealer status.

Frank...

We had this with K&C dealers a while back. Once the product is sold from the manufacturer its the property of the person in question and, there is no dealer stipulation that I am aware of set by anyone that dealers etc cannot buy a piece and hold on hoping the price will rise. How can you properly police against this?? It may, or may not, become a rare piece nobody knows. If we are honest the hobby really cares little about what happens about the products and prices once they are out of the factory and sold to dealers or collectors.

Vezzolf, I look at it as a blessing. It gives you an illumination of the dealer's character, which can be priceless.

In most cases the dealer buys the models as inventory and gets his money back and a profit when it sells. Most companies don't allow their dealers to discount or even have a sale to get rid of slow selling items. When only 100 of a hot model is made, the dealers customers are clammoring for it and I doubt any get held back. So it's OK for the dealers to hold onto slow selling inventory for years - they have to buy certain amounts of models to be a dealer. But it,s not ok to hold extra stock of a model he thinks will eventually be popular and will sell for a premium a few years later when it is selling only slowly now. Seems like a double standard. And I still say it's not so easy to pick most models years in advance and the dealer still has his cash tied up in inventory.

If the dealer is reallly gouging - don't buy it.

Terry.

After weeks of waiting and post office screw-ups it finally rolled in today. This was supposed to be delivered a week before xmas and I feared that it may have been lost in transit. Thankfully it arrived and no problems with any damage. She is a beauty!
