Did anyone at anytime say 'get rid of the bases'? were you not paying attention?............

sufficiently. I should have stated ''stay with affixed bases'' and not think of having them as a partial on or off commodity For any confusion to me these are display items and cost that and not toys to be played with.

Baymax quote "For any confusion to me these are display items and cost that and not toys to be played with".

I really don't understand this statement in relation to bases?

For many, part of the joy of TS is being able to 'display' your figures in diorama's and 'playing' around with them in different displays.

I get why some collectors want permanent bases and I have no issue with that, but I thought the original 'bases' discussion was about whether or not collectors wanted a 'removeable base' to give them the option?

I prefer them generally with bases. But like several people here. Some poses like prone or sitting they are better off without.
Depends circumstances and the individual figure. Standing, marching and action pose running - stability and balance are necessary for display securely and bases are prefered. Also one tends to find period is important consideration. Napoleonic bases essential unless seated or dead. WW1 to present a lot more flexibility without bases makes sense in diorama positioning for vehicles, dugouts etc

I assemble and paint 70 mm figures. I like a low profile base and I use plastic modeling clay to form a base by pressing the figure into the clay about 2 mm. Works for both resin and tin figures up to about 75 mm. The clay peels off if you want to remove it. The clay comes in colors i. e. Green, Brown Grey, etc. The larger the figure the more clay you can use to balance the figure. Most craft stores have colored plastic clay; it is also great for making rocks, sandbags, shell craters etc.

Good point. large oversized bases are problematic and perhaps manufacturers should thin and reduce the size of bases which would be a halfway step to keeping the customers happy. I always found that TCS bases were huge and too large really for the size of figures.

Some of the recent bases for FL WWII are very thin which would offer those who wish to diorama an easier way to cover them should they feel the need to hide bases
