First legion coming out with zulu !!!!! (1 Viewer)

Was hoping FL would eventually get around to this period, and by the looks of this upcoming first release I'd have to say it was well worth the wait.
The figures seem to really capture the look of the veterans who made up the 24th's 1st battalion as they fought for their lives at Isandlhwana.

To this point I've only purchased a few individual FL figures, waiting for a series that I would want to collect completely. THIS IS THE ONE. ^&grin
Can't wait to get a glimpse at some FL Zulu warriors. - Until then, I'm clearing some shelves and getting ready for the 'Soldiers of the Great White Queen'.

I am not sure if I will collect this range...........Lord knows, I do not need to be buying another range...................... Although I probably will pick up a few figures here and there and before I know it I will have them all.

Brian,
Ok, you have to admit this is comical; you went from you're not sure if you will collect this range to Lord knows, I do not need to be buying another range to you'll pick up a few figures here and there to before you know it, you'll have them all............;).

Priceless, you are one funny guy...............I'm telling you, Greg and you should hit the road, Martin and Lewis, how's that shed of yours working out............

Amazing figures but I miss some dead soldier and lieutenant Chard and lieutenant Bromhead :)

I emailed Matt and he said that personality figures are on the way for this range...of course...all in good time. But we all knew that would be the case right? ;)

I have tried SO hard to avoid adding a new range, but FL is really making it tough with this release....{sm2}

...must maintain discipline, but this one's tough.

This won't be the first time I've replaced a William Britain rage with FL. Happened before with 95th Rifles and Buford's Cavalry.

Interesting I wonder if they will be based on the real characters or, the movie actors who played them?

Good question, I guess it depends on the range, the unit and what the sculptor chooses or is told to do. I have seen several examples of both, case in point for Napoleonics we got Sean Bean, and the Fantastic Kutuzov and the Russian Imperial Staff. scroll done using this link and you can see just what a wonderful job that FL can do with Historical figures using period paintings of the time http://www.firstlegionltd.com/nap0099kutuzovandtherussianimperialstaff.aspx .. regards Gebhard

I am also torn between wanting the accurate figures and the thought of having Caine and Baxter depicted in a really nice looking Zulu range. Only time will tell which way FL goes but, I think the sean bean figure looks spot on so, it bodes well

Had a little holiday so, was unable to reply. Thanks for the images. I agree that the Sharpe figure of sean bean was well done so, its difficult to say what would be better. I would initially like to see the real characters portrayed by FL however, saying that I would not be upset to have figures accurately depicting Caine and Baxter in my collection.

Holiday's are good for the soul:wink2:
I'm much more impressed with First Legions representations of Bennigsen,Yermolov and Kaisarov to name a few. Although the Bean figure is also well done, it really is impressive that First Legion can produce a figure which actually looks like who the are supposed to. How many times have we seen such and such produce a figure of a Famous personality only to think who the hell is that ???
I'm torn over what I'd like to see more of, Historical accurate representations of the real characters or the guys from the movies the current way First Legion are handling it suits me fine. I'm just glad Napoleon didn't look like Rod Steiger ^&grin . regards Gebhard
