Where did you post your photos of your FL sets Brad?
Not to steal Sammy's thunder but today's announcements, or dispatches as it were, were one of the most impressive I have seen in this hobby.
Any of the releases would have been impressive in their own but collectively they made for a staggering set of releases.
Must haves for me are the Civil War releases and the French artillery piece.
I have been on the fence lately on WW I, waiting for some impressive items to come along as a glut has been developing, and the artillery set (along with JJD German tank) is the impressive piece for which I have been waiting.
For me its not so much about price but about size. Ive seen FL figures up close and they are just too small and puny for my preferences. Just way, way way too much is made of body proportions and the like, IMO.
As far as accuracy goes, Im hard pressed to see where FL has a big advantage. I recall they produced a whole range of american paratroopers with upside down chevrons. Thats about the worst mistake Ive see in the modern day industry, especially for higher priced figs.
And I will say that I dont belive anyone or any company "rules". Thats a high school expression that I never liked. Further, I can say without equivocation that no one rules me or my opinions -- except perhaps my cross fit trainer, and thats just for an hour at a time.

Can you contradict your self any better?? You first state that Fl is way to small, then next sentence. you mention size is wayyy over thought...so which is it??
Correct that one Fl Para had upside down chevrons that Matt at FL addressed said the Para was already produced and to late to change so if one has a issue then don't but that set. That simple.
As far as cross fit...A Vegan and a Cross fitter walk into a bar how do we know?? Because they told everyone ...Sammy
Allow me to clarify Sammy:
Too small meaning the figures are puny - in my opinion. Size meaning the whole scale issue and what works with what and not "true to life" and all that jazzola.
Thats good advice Sammy. Lets just not pretend that FL has some sort of unparalleled stranglehold on accuracy, shall we?
And we know who favors FL becausse they constantly spout off with bragging and boastful comments about that company's supposed superiority. Tiresome well beyond talk of Turkish Get Ups.
Mr. Rutledge please allow me differ in our opinions and views.
1. As you might find something puny or small, indifferent I may find it perfectly fine, that's called a "difference of opinion".
2. A stranglehold of accuracy?? Being what First Legion has released year in and year out with most all their ranges I think the company does well to keep it accurate within their scale frame, as with most all things nothing is perfect, we call that "life".
3. Now this fine forum we both share allows one to share in critique as well as excitement for ones personal preferences and who am I to object to anyone being forth right with Their comments on a toy soldier company?? Surly not I, be it First Legion, K&C, Figarti, Marx, not my place to feel the need to put someone in "their place" sort of speak.
4. ' Lastly but but not leastly, if member Y starts a thread titled "First Legion rules" and such words irritate, disturb, rile your emotions I would suggest just skipping that thread for reading purposes and finding a different avenue to purose or at least a thread or post that you find enjoyable, and please allow we few trickle of First Legion collectors to enjoy our moment in the Sun here on this fine establishment...Sammy
I only collect two of their ranges - Civil War and Seven Years War - and they are, in my opinion, anything but puny; Civil War is the same scale as Britain's and I'm told that their Zulu range also go well with Britain's. I know some have said that FL's WW II are not as big as those of other companies but I couldn't comment upon that as I don't have any of them.
The part about FL "rules" was a bit of an inside joke as Vezzolf (Frank) always says that. However, they had a very fine day with all the releases they announced that day.
I also think their figures are accurate but of course no one is perfect; everyone makes mistakes.
Sammy,
Please note:
1) In both prior posts I clearly said FL's size was puny "in my preference or opinion". So yes I quite understand thats what it is -- my opinion.
2) My point is that Fl produces no more accurate product than other top tier toy soldier manufacturers -- not that they were not allowed to make a mistake. Certainly they do make mistakes, as rightly you confirmed.
3) Praise can be made without a relative claim. For instance. IN MY OPINION: "First Legion makes really great toy soldiers" is a better way to say "FL rules" or "First Legion makes better that toy soldiers than other manufacturers". See the difference? In other words, a relative claim is derogatory toward other manufacturers, which is unnecessary, and frankly a turn off. Think of buying a car. Would you like it if instead of telling you the features of his car, the salesman kept telling you how much better his car is than X, Y and Z? I would walk out, personally.
4) Like I said, if yall want to sing the praises of FL unto itself, by all means. However when it gets into the relative claim area, ie., "FL is better, more accurate, etc etc than other manufacturers", well, then you are stirring the pot on a public blog. No different if instead of telling my FB friends about my workout program, I instead/also boasted how it was soooo much better than their workout programs. Im quite sure that would not be well received.
I spoke my piece, you have a pleasant day in what you choose to do and we First Legion collectors will try to enjoy this part of the forum, if you"ll allow us a moment or two to do that??....Sammy
You know Sammy this has been going on since just about day one and always will. First Legion pose a threat to certain collectors and for whatever reason they feel the need to tell us all about why they don't buy First Legion and that's fine.
But..... what they don't understand is that we are going to enjoy what we feel to be the finest factory made figures the world has ever seen no matter what they say :wink2:.
If a First Legion collector gets excited about new releases and says they rule what's the harm in it ? Does anyone really take it literally ?? I know I don't begrudge the collectors of other manufactures their enjoyment. It's a TS for heavens sake, way too many more pressing issues in the world to get worked up about IMO.
