Well fellow forum members and First Legion collectors, I finally made my first purchase of First Legion figures. I have decided to collect some of the AWI range and have started off with the AWI British Grenadiers, specifically AWI026 Company Officer, AWI027 Company Drummer, AWI028 Company NCO, and AWI032 & AWI033 Grenadiers Marching. Now the wait of their arrival starts . . . . photographs to follow . . .

Glad to hear you decided to make the jump into First Legion! As you well know, there is a very loyal group of fans here and it is great to see another member join in the AWI range. I really do think you will be pleased when they arrive and I'm looking forward to hear your comments and reaction.

Your first thoughts when you first see them in person will be "Why did I wait so long"". I just received my latest order of 2 FL figures... AWI 026 and 028 about an hour ago. It took that long just to sit and admire them. The photo's on the website don't do them any justice. I thought that FL couldn't get any better when I started collecting their Naps.. these 2 figures blow them away by far... Making a list, checking it twice... LEGIONS, LEGIONS, LEGIONS

You're a real rascal Mark . . . Yes I know in the past I certainly did vascillate from one range to another for awhile . . . couldn't help myself . . . was drawn to them like a moth to a lightbulb. You forgot my K&C US Navy, USMC, SOHK and IC sets that I use for my 1926 Yangtse River collection :wink2::tongue: My main collection interest will still be with WB ACW . . . and no you won't be seeing any of those for sale . . . I like them too much and ACW is my favorite historical period. However, I am fascinated with the Rev War too . . . been looking at the FL AWI offerings for a long time now, especially the 5th Foot Grenadiers . . . Gotta luv that red uniform . . . decided to just buy a few to see for myself what other members have been raving about. Oh by the way, I still have some K&C Crusaders for sale, and my K&C US Navy, USMC, SOHK and IC sets will probably go on the block also . . . . I gotta fund my Rev War foray some how ^&grin . . .

Just got an email notification from UPS with tracking info and an expected delivery date of next Wednesday 2/16. UPS doesn't deliver until late in the afternoon and sometimes early evening in my neighborhood. Won't be able to do much with the new 5th Foot Figures until next Thursday . . . will definately be posting some photos of them displayed on a Hudson & Allen diorma scenic base I picked up from Ken & Ericka Osen at the 2010 OTSN Chicago show. Can't wait to see them . . . 5 long days and counting . . .

Mike, just curious but what is your second favorite time period?^&grin

As much as I enjoy studying the ACW, the AWI has always been a close second fascination to me. The trouble is, and the reason for my hesitancy to collect this time period, I don't know as much about the AWI in comparison to my knowledge of the ACW. As a collector and former serious historical reenactor, I acquire sculpts of only what I feel is a close representation of historical accuracy in the end product. It was only after I talked to a few highly respected, like minded collectors and doing some due diligence research that I felt comfortable in selecting the FL AWI figures as my first foray into the world of AWI historical miniature collecting.

I believe you are right, I am definately in trouble. Now I am starting to hope/wish that this will not be the end to FL's 5th Foot offerings. Would like to see the addition of a junior grenadier company officer, perhaps a corporal figure, more marching or marching attack poses with different head/body poses. From what I understand, the Light Infantry companies were more heavily involved (skirmish wise) at Conord, ie at the North Bridge, than the Grenadier companys were, so now I am thinking it would be great to have 5th Foot Left Flank company (light infantry) figures to select from. I am even starting to select which H&A dio base I want to use first to photograph my new acquisitions when they arrive to the point that I am even thinking of a scenario story line to go with the photos. Awe yes, I think I am in trouble . . . .
