Fl collectors club figure idea (1 Viewer)

Who says they have to fit.;) There is plenty of room for an active Wellington at Waterloo, perhaps encouraging Maitland etc.;):D

Too true! I was just back on the FL site and Colbert and Denisov don't quite fit with their perspective command groups. Although Wellington and his staff sharing a glass of Sherry would be a different pose.;)

I've only ever seen the Uxbridge figure from one side. Does he have both legs?!
Yes, it is before he was wounded which is only logical since afterwards he was obviously removed from the battle. BTW, you can see all sides of the figure by clicking the view more images text below the photo which brings up a seperate zoomed window with multiple views.;) The reverse side is shown from the link below but you can also page forward and back from it.

Well I personally love those two poses. I rather wish Uxbridge was equally animated but it is a beautiful figure nonetheless.

After reading about other members views on what kind of poses they prefer, I couldn’t help but want to express mine as well.

While the leading the “Charge Pose” taken by Colbert and Densiov are very impressive they are hard to fit into a diorama, unless the diorama’s subject is that one charge. There is really only one place you can use these figures, leading a charge. Having a charge requires quite a few horse figures following their leader. While a more natural position like the ones taken by Lord Uxbridge and Price Orange can be work in on many levels.

If you just want to display the individual figures then the charging pose is fantastic. I especially like the posing of small groups of figures that work together like First Legion has done with the Russian and French command groups. If it turns out that the new Wellington figure looks as if he is interacting with the Uxbridge figure so much the better.

The first thing I think of when I see a new figure or new line of figures is how they might fit into that in the big picture. Standing figures without dramatic poses are easier to fit in to a scene with other figures.

Just my two cents worth.

I can understand your perspective KM but I must say that which one fits better is more a preference than anything else. To me, it is more about whether you are displaying a participant in the battle or an observer. The Colbert and Densiov figures are participants and equally at home leading a charge or encouraging some group of their ground fellows. In the heat of combat, mounted officers did not just sit by and observe, they participated and encouraged. Moreover, there horses didn't always stand quietly with cannon and musket shot zipping around. So for the sake of displays involving fighting soldiers, really the only ones of interest to me, I think the dynamic figures are much more appropriate. If you want to have a group of staff standing around, that is fine but it is certainly not the only diorama interest worth serving. So while I certainly hope you get the passive staff figures you like, I also hope we have some fighting officers to actually lead, as opposed to watch, the troops. Probably a distinction can be made between the senior staff and those leading regiments and perhaps even divisions in battle. Honestly I think Wellington would work either way but judging from the releases to date I think we should also have some generals for the thick of things.:D

SPitfrnd, I totally agree with you it is a matter preference. The main reason I made my comment was to balance the views being expressed. I think Matt and First Legion have been doing an excellent job of releasing a balance of both types of poses. Please don’t take my posting to mean I don’t buy the action poses, because I do. I love all the First Legion figures.

Oh I thought as much but I just wanted to respond to the notion that the action figures only fit one diorama scenario. I just think they are more flexible than that. Of course we all have I preferences. I have been known to bend Matt's ear about adding more action in the ranks for example.;):D
Balance is always good.
