Florida vs. Alabama... your prediction (1 Viewer)

Playoffs work well for the NFL - I am sure they would work just as well for College Football. And on the season getting longer - the NCAA can set the game limit - many bigger Universities are trying to squeeze one more $$$ game in their season.

PLAYOFFS are the only answer for this mess. IMHO.

I'm not defending the BCS, but College Football is a different animal from the NFL. Frankly, I can't watch professional sports anymore. Create an 8 team college playoff and next year the nine and ten ranked teams will be screaming they should be in. So then we get a 12 team playoff - more games more money... It would be inevitable. The season would end in February. Part of the fun of college football is arguing about who is better. With 119 teams there will never be a way for everyone to play to each other. The playoff system is inevitable though just because of the money.

That is a great story. I remember as a kid watching that game and both teams had the home uni's on until the NCAA stepped in and put a stop to it.

Just another example of true sportsmanship/tradition winning out over the morons at the NCAA...........

BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II
USA Ranked 4th

After determining the Big-12 championship game participants, the BCS computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.

"Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with the annexation of Austria and the Sudentenland and continuing into conference play with defeats of Poland,France, Norway,Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. Their only home losses came against the USA and Russia; however considering their entire body of work--including an incredibly tough Strength of Schedule (SOS)-our computers deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking."

Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS commissioner stated :The US only had two major victories--Japan and Germany. The computer models, unlike humans, aren't influenced by head-to-head contests--they consider each contest to be only a single, equally-weighted event."

German Chancellor Adolph Hitler said "Yes, we lost to the US; but we defeated #2 France in only six weeks." Herr Hitler has been criticized for seeking dramatic victories to earn "style points" to enhance Germany's rankings. Hitler protested "Our contest with Poland was in doubt until the final day and the conditions in Norway wre incredibly challenging and demanded the application of additional forces."

The French ranking has also come under scrutney. The BCS commented"France had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1 ranking, they only fell to # 2."

Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Manchuria, Borneo and the Philippines. United States coach Harry Truman was criticized for bad taste for scheduling a "politicking" during the halftime of the Germans bombing of Great Britian. A US fan also made the point that "The German's got too many style points for their sexy offense whichcontinues to obliterate weaker opponents and show off their might after the battle is won. But what about defense ?

Combat, that is hillarious!!:D:D:D:D:D That is possibly the best indictment of the BCS system ever!!!!:p:D

Where did Italy place? Was Germany penalized for illegal use of U-boats? Too many unanswered questions. -- lancer

I forwarded the post via e-mail to the "Mike & Mike in the Morning" webite on ESPN.com - since the BCS vs. a playoff is such a hot topic, and this is such a funny indictment of the BCS system, I thought they might actually use it.

Combat, that is the most original scenrio I have ever heard, and the best part it makes 100% sense.....sammy

Combat I can't beat the comments the others have made, but you did have me me smiling, laughing and wondering how you imagined it all up.:)

Thanks for the laughs. I have no idea who will win, but I will be watching.

Well, after Florida kicks the snot out of Alabama, it will be Florida vs Oklahoma for all the marbles, Texas , Texas Tech and USC get to kiss the pooch. It's a shame isn't it? Or is that a sham?

Looks like my prediction was perfect "if the Gators score over 30, they win". Alabama gave them a good run, good game. I would love to see USC Gators, that would be fun, but probably not in the cards.

Looks like Florida and Oklahoma for the BCS championship. Two very good teams. I can't remember a year when the top five teams were so talented and well coached. Almost no upsets down the stretch.

Isn't that SEC ?

I guess spelling is not that important at UF ;)

Great game.
Hightower's (I think it was Hightower) facemask penalty for Alabama late in the game jumpstarted the Florida drive which led to a touchdown eating up the clock to boot. That was the game winner.

Should be a great game, the Sooners have demolished their last 5 opponents, scoring 60+ in every game. Florida's defense is quick, very, very quick, so we'll see if the Sooners have an answer.
