Forthcoming April Dispatches (1 Viewer)

I reckon it might be a Normandy summer version of the Sd. Kfz. 234/1 Schwerer Panzerspahwagen armoured car.

I hope figs from falkands war. This week it make 30 years.
It could be grzat to remenber it with few british figs.

Falklands would be very interesting, but I wonder if it might be a little raw still???

Rob

After a loooooong drought for me and my fellow AWI collectors , Andy finally released a few British Fusilier updates. While I agree with the sentiment from AIDMAN (Steve) ……..........

"I hope it is a Range I don’t collect as i am still reeling from the recent Soviet attack. My Credit Card needs time to Re-group!!!" Steve

……..... I was hoping for something else or different, but beggars can’t be choosers, or so the saying goes. Still, new British or Colonial Regiments, Militia, Camp Life, Causalities would be a nice find in my Easter Basket. .... of course, along with my Chocolate Bunny and Marshmallo Peeps!

I don't remember the Falklands war 1st hand but did hear about it growing up, both of my Moms brothers served over there during it & they loved the two Britains Falklands models in my collection! To me the camo patterns worn by the British Army then was my idea of what all soldiers looked like in my head! So when Britains brought them out I had to get them! If K&C or any company brought out a Falklands range I'd be very tempted to buy the lot!

Craig

Not so sure about it being raw Rob. see where your coming from but, for me, we should be loud and proud about this as we were attacked and defended ourselves.

I am no collector or, have any interest in modern stuff its just so boring to look at IMO but, a Falklands range or, even a celebratory set in FOB would be a must have and a fitting way to remember the bravery and sacrifice of the brit troops who did what had to be done at great cost.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see another colonial release, after all the Rhode Island regiment was discontinued shortly before K&C released their new Fusiliers.

As a sidenote, have you considered painting plastic figures to match the K&C style? I've seen some very nice camp life plastics done by Barzso.

Best Regards,
Mike

I have certainly considered that as an option, but I have not had the time (or the courage :( ) to attempt that feat!

My “Hats Off” to those individuals that have shown us their incredible talent and produced such wonderful works of art .

I suppose that my doing only a fair paint job on wounded or dead figure might be “acceptable” as he is “not at his best anyway.”

So if King and Country considers to ignore this series (actually quite large at 160 sets) I will give it a try.
I just wonder how my diorama would look when the Kings finest “Royal Welsh Fusiliers” or “Black Watch Highlanders” come up against a set of Colonial Gumby’s or the 1st Pennsylvania Pumpkin Heads.”

I might have a go at it, some of those plastic sets could easily be modified into wounded/noncombatants. In any case, I bet I could get a decent result with enough patience.

I've also found that Conte figures work well as background pieces; they're about the same scale as the older K&C pieces and with a little paintwork they make passable 10th Lincolnshires or New York regiment pieces.

And here's the Barzso set, really nice sculpting IMHO http://www.barzso.com/Rev-War-Camp-Figures.html

Just what will be the new releases tonight, first I am hoping for some new Great War Brits and vehicles / artillery (Aussies would be a bit to much to hope for) second would be more D-Day Brits and vehicles / artillery and lastly 8th Army vehicles / artillery. I am sure there will be NAPS as well, what ever we see I'm sure Rob will be on top of it and post pics quick as a wiz, looking forward to see what arrives.

Wayne,

I like your comments about wanting ARTILLERY ...... any sort will do :)

I'm hoping for NO NAP retirements, so I can play 'catch up' of previous releases for this month's toy soldier budget.

I think its time for me to leave the office and 'take post' on the PC at home for the latest news flashes ...

regards,

John
