FPW01-FPW12 Franco-Prussian War French Infantry! *NEW SERIES* (2 Viewers)

Some great work by Paul Grolleron too, just noted some have been put up already! Very inspirational for a diorama ( if space and deep pockets allow...oh and time!)

Very much agree, especially as he did the French Army as his subject matter. -- Al

Well it just goes to show, everyone loves a winner. Military fashion around the world shifted from French inspired to a more Prussian look after the outcome of the FPW. Below are examples of American dress uniforms of 1870's. Same can be found with British home service uniforms.

These would keep me broke & entertained for years to come. Bavarian uniforms are my favorite just love the Raupenhelm, I really hope to see First Legion do them. Just so much variety both French & the German States. Both French and "German" Heavy Cavalry will be Fantastic.

Matts mention of Algerian troops is promising, will be wonderful to see them as well. Hopefully much interest and sales will spark this line to a long and healthy life. regards Gebhard

Your paintings show the effect of the Prussian needle gun. Very deadly!

Would be very interested in seeing what First Legion could do with what has to be the most iconic cavalry the world has ever known part two. The uniforms of Louis's heavy cavalry were not much changed from those of his famous uncle, I do like the red pants :wink2:. Just so cool looking

Love it, more French Cuirassiers...………….

I purchased several of these excellent First Legion figures from George at the Chicago Show. I intend to display them with a real Franco Prussian War French Uniform and an antique Steiff Franco Prussian War French Infantryman Doll:

The pants and tunic arrived, as did the mannequin, so I started the Franco-Prussian War French Display, In addition to the Uniforms, the Antique Steiff French Infantryman and the First Legion Franco Prussian War French Infantry, I obtained a 28mm diorama of a Franco Prussian War French command group, so the display will go from 1:1 scale to 1:48 scale:

Here are some shots of the set up, missing only the epaulets for the uniform, but, importantly, with the excellent First Legion officer, standard bearer, drummer and bugler in place:

I ordered the officer with the sword, and four of the riflemen today from George. Loving this Franco Prussian War display!:salute::

Really looking to see where this line will go, sofar these French figures look beautiful. This could end up being one of their best lines IMO.

I am not at liberty to give specifics, but Matt has some great additions in the works for 2020, one in particular that is a personal favorite of mine...……………….this is a great line, one that has long been missing in matte finish, I am so glad to see collectors taking to the range, can't speak for anyone else, but the French have been a huge hit with my customers.

I look forward to whatever additional figures are issued in this series. I think the uniforms from this era look fantastic, especially the French, who had Zouaves, Chasseurs D'Afrique, Chasseurs A'Pied, Spahis in addition to the infantry already produced. The German uniforms are also terrific, especially the odd early Pickelhaube and Raupenhelm Helmets.^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool
