Just curious...is there anyone out there that would be interested in this? I know it's a long shot for K&C to actually make one, I myself can't imagine it being a big seller, but the war was very significant for history and I thought it would be cool if there was a small release of stuff from this conflict. Maybe something like K&C UK's Crimean War series. Just a thought.

I would be very interested in this war. I also do not see it as a big seller but it would be a very colorful series. The infantry and cavalry potential are fantastic. The church yard at St. Privat would make a good dio. -- Al

I once asked Andy about doing as it would seem a good connection to WW I but he said he had no interest.

The one thing I've learned, though, is Andy changes his mind :)

Guys...

He said that about the Jagdtiger and looked what happened. You may still get the range

Might be interested, Im into German history, but first, K&C should get rid of of a couple of lines first.. And then improve on the ones they already have..

As a German dealer & collector I would be more than happy to see a new K&C range 1870/71 ! :D

That's why you're the best Al; wow, took the words right out of my mouth. A small series to depect that famous battle and the painting of the same battle would be spectacular IMO, the Franco Prussian War has been of great interest to me for a long time..............

Well, I think I actually brought this up myself....look back a few threads.,

Perhaps soon we will have our Franco Prussian War...but do not hold your breath!!!!!!!!

Andy does not mind selling the SS bad boys...But he obviously has a problem with other Prussian/German forces sine he Napoleonic times!! As they are not represented.???

Dear "Doughboy":
I would suspect that K&C getting into the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/1871 would be the same as K&C getting into the Korean War of 1950-1953, namely that it will be "The Forgotten War"!

Yep, like a French Indochina series, I suspect that it just wouldn't be a viable business proposition. Does anybody know if Andy ever considered the Boxer Rebellion in the current matt style of production?

Dear "Jules118":

I know that Trophy Miniatures of Wales had a nice large number of "Boxer Rebellion War" sets including the Peking gate wall, etc. I do not believe K&C ever had any. I wonder what the market would be for this era for K&C as determined by Andy Neilson

Trophy of Wales has the best and most comprehensive Boxer Rebellion line. Kingcast and Bastion Models also have multiple Boxer Rebellion sets. All three are glossy, traditional 54 mm figures. East of India has a matte finish Boxer Rebellion line, too.

The only 54 mm manufacturer of the Franco-Prussion War that comes to mind was Quality Model Soldiers in the U.K.. They produced 21 sets (I think) which you can still find occasionally on eBay. I have 20 of them. I wrote a letter to the editor of TS&MF magazine regarding this line about a year ago.

I think this would qualify for the Fields of Battle series, though I don't think it would be anymore popular than the Crimean series which in comercial terms was a very limited success.

Yeah, have a small selection of Trophy Boxers. Would be nice to see some in Matt with the quality finish that currently exists on the K&C figures though.

East of India... sadly a thing of the past are they not? Believe that they stopped manufacturing and am not seeing much of the Boxer Rebellion figures around these days. :(

Authenticast also had some Prussians from the Franco-Prussian War in their catalog. Stadden's catalog of custom figures includes 9 different Prussian figures, 8 Bavarian figures, and 21 French. The subject is well-represented among flats, too. But really, there's not enough demand in the broader hobby to support a K&C line, I think. Even among the figure kit builders, there's not enough demand to support more than a handful of figures.

Prost!
Brad
