Frederick the Great (1 Viewer)

After Frederick the Great and two of his Generals, now it is on to the troops of that time. This month I received a mounted trooper of the "Gardes du Corps" and do want to share some photos here.
Yet another splendid example of John's outstanding work.
Hope you like him too.

Hi Konrad,

Your figure is beautiful! John does outstanding work and you are fortunate to be able to include some of his fine figures in your collection. Thank you for sharing the figure will us!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Another outstanding piece, Konrad! You're putting together quite the specialty collection here, not just for the subject, but as an example of a really fine painter's work.

Prost!
Brad

Konrad,

Tradition do make some very nice figures in their model soldier range and as usual John has produced another winner here! :)

Are you just sticking to the 18th C?

Jeff

Thanks for the comments, guys,
Jeff, there will be a few more Prussians to come until the group is completed and after that there are a few more figures in the pipeline that are not 18th century subjects.
This collection I am working on will be all mounted figures but except this group of Prussians it will then consist of individual pieces from different eras, that I find attractive and that I would want to collect finished in John's "superior gloss" style.
Looking forward to share future arrivals :)
Konrad

Konrad,

Absolutely fantastic figures. Congrats. Are these all Tradition. Whatever they are, they are superb.

Thank you, Brad,
yes, so far all the figures shown are castings from the "Tradition of London" Model Soldier range. The sculpting is a bit advanced and more detailed usually compared to their Toy Soldier range.
Konrad

Hi Konrad, These are not in the same league as your figures but thought you might like to have a look since it is Frederick. I bought these as castings from Tradition.

Frederick the Great is on our right. We see him watching the development of the battle with one of his officers next to him.

Did you paint those, Russell? Nicely done toy soldiers!

The figure of Frederick is actually from Tradition's toy soldier line, which are made in the classic toy soldier style, with the peg shoulder and simpler detail. I think Scheinmann scuplted them, and they fit nicely with classic Britains.

The other one I think is from the same line, too, isn't it? I think he was either an officer included in the Giant Grenadier set, or as a figure of Frederick William.

What a great look at the breadth of choice in Tradition's catalog!

Prost!

Russell,
they are very nice. who makes the cast trees and bushes ?

Hello there in Wenatchee, The deciduous tree and the small shrub below it are from Tedtoys. The two conifers I bought as castings at the Hackensack Show. I believe they are recastings of old Britain items. Finally the medium size bush is a casting I got from Tradition.

The table is also a casting picked up at the Hackensack Show.

Cheers

Hi Brad,
Just noticed your post. Yes I did paint them some years back. I had the good fortune to be in London some years back and so I visited the toy soldier shops. The Tradition Shop, in Mayfair at the time, was my favorite. On the main floor are the painted sets and items on sale. Downstairs it's full of castings. I had a heavy load when I left the store. At the airport I took all my castings as carry on because I didn't want them to get damaged. The security person on the scanner looked at the image on the screen for a long time. When he figured it out he smiled and let me pass :).

Thank you for posting these, Russell,
you did very well with the painting and how they are displayed with the table and the trees and bushes.
A pleasure to see someone else with "7 years war" figures.
So far, I only knew that Brad "theBaron" is collecting them.

A few more photos here from yet another figure I received from John.
An officer of the Garde du Corps. A wonderful addition to the trooper shown previously.
Within the next couple of weeks there will be a few more figures to come before the display I had in mind is completed.
It is another very well painted "Tradition of London" Model Soldier casting and the only tiny issue I have is that the horse is the same sculpting as the horse from General von Seydlitz. But then again, shown in a larger group at the end, it most likely will not be too obvious.
Here it is now, another masterpiece of "beating reatreat".
Konrad
