Re: French 2nd Carabiniers Cavalry Regiment - Pre-Order Update?

Matt, since you recently were talking about new pre-orders of other items, is there an update on the pre-order for the Carabiniers?

100% this weekend.

Matt

Matt,

I am looking at the pictures you posted of the NAP0076, French 2nd Carabiniers falling from saddle. The figure’s sword is not in his hand. It is only attached to the figure by the sword’s waist loop. Am I seeing this right? How in the world were you able to pull that off? It is truly amazing if what I think I am seeing is true.

Are my eyes play tricks on me or is this indeed true?

Thank you

It's MAGIC. :D

No, not really. The sword for this figure is a separate part that slips over his hand. You can either leave it hanging down off his wrist freely or you may glue it in any position that you fancy. For our master, we glued it as shown. It's up to you how you want to display it.

Also worthy of note is that all of the swords for all of the Carabiniers figures are photo etched metal and came out REALLY well (you'll see on the final catalog photos this weekend). But be careful, I've already stabbed myself about 15 times. :D

Wayne and Frank,
Just to let you know I did exchange several emails with Matt earlier in the year with a view to possibly stocking the range but after considering all the factors decided not to do so.
However I do agree they produce some nice looking figures.

Matt,

I like the idea that I can glue the sword at any angle I choose. This will make each falling figure a little different from its neighbor.

That sounds very exciting. I also like the idea of a loose sword for this figure. The photo etched metal construction is also very appealing. I hope we will be seeing that on future cavalry figures as well?

Matt,

Matt,

Have you ever given any thought to having the head as an add-on piece? So each owner could insist the head at any angle they chose. It wouldn’t even need to be glued in place, unless they decided they wanted to make it permanent. Having two of the exact same figures with different head positions would make the two figures look totally different.

Of course this wouldn’t work for every figure and care must be taken so the neck would still look natural. If this would take away from the excellence of the finished figure it would not be worth it. The more I think about this I am not sure it is such a good idea after all.

You would know more about how practical or unpractical this would be. Just curious.

But we sort of already do this with some of our figures codes - offering two of the same figure with different heads. Other than this, no, we've never thought of offering heads as separate add on pieces and we never will. Way too impractical and really not a very good idea for a whole host of reasons.

Matt,

Thank you for your insight. I am sure you are right. Thank you also for offering the same figure with different heads. I appreciate the variety this allows me. :D

Thanks Noah. As for honesty, here's some more: Carabinier pre-order won't be until end of this coming week. After being mired in Stugs and other Chicago items all day today I just don't have the strength. Need a few days off and will load up the catalog around Thursday or so. Doesn't really matter much as you all know they're coming and the ship date is early November and how quickly the pre-order starts isn't going to change that....

Very tired...

Matt

Appreciate the honesty as always Matt and you're quite right that it matters not. Get some rest and recharge.

NAP74-80 have finally arrived yesterday (NAP73 will follow) and all I can say is WOUW!!!

Fantastic pieces - the sculpting is high art, never seen such animation before. You almost feel them moving! And the painting is absolutely mega upper range of things. Any Nap collector has to get these. Won't be disappointed!

The title could be "Oldies, but Goodies". But ultimately, I went with

Exploring the Breach, 1812

Like a fine wine those figures just keep getting better, love the addition of the Saxon's :salute:::salute:::salute::. regards Gebhard
