French Foreign legion range. (1 Viewer)

I collect the Hachette/King and Country range issued in France. I am delighted to see this new range!

Hi Benjamin,

Great to meet another French Legion fanatic....Any chances of you sharing some pics of your sets. I my self have never seen ones made by Hechette and K&C.
Cheers

Speaking personally, and having seen the French Foreign Legion figures earlier, this is the one range where I can forgive any inaccuracies with uniforms, arms and ephemera. As long as they have a blue overcoat, white kepi and neck guard, I am as happy as a pig in poo! I'm having two of each set, so the rest of you will have to fight over the other 98!

I kept returning to the Thomas Gunn stand to look at them. I must have gone away and come back about five times. I was lucky they didn't put a restraining order one me!

If you weren't already aware, they will be sold as three sets of two figures and of course there will be more to come.

The fact that there will be only 100 sets of each is going to mean they will sell out pretty fast. When other manufacturers see their popularity, I'm sure they will want in too. For passionate FFL collectors like yourself, there are only good times ahead.

I AM REALLY COUNTING ON THAT!!!!!
Look forward that what you said is heard load and clear by other manufacturers........

Hi Artillery_Crazy,
Go to my profile and see the FFL photo album. There are about 12 images of the Hachette figures.
Best wishes,
Benjamin

Hey this is a great new! Wanna buy some!

French officer seems have a Lüger, no?

Hi Custer,
No it is a Walther P.38.......
The catch is that they were issued to the German army in 1940.......There is a time warp between the pistol, the Soldiers rifles ( issued to the troops between 1889 and 1930 ) let us see how that will be handled by TG........

I can't find any pictures of FFL uniform with red piping but then again I own neither the Osprey book nor La Legion Etrangere 1831-1945, so have to bow to the better informed people on here for this one. Nevertheless, it won't stop me buying them.

As for Conte's take on the FFL, they seem to have been 'coming soon' for what seems an eternity!

I think they had red piping in the 19th cen.and these are definetly 20th cen.

Good question. I can't ID the weapons for certain. The rifles look like the 1886 Lebel but if so the two barrel bands are incorrect as there should be just the one where the sling attaches. The Berthier also had one band and the rifle certainly isn't the MAS36. So my guess is the Lebel which could mean 1920ish, BUT the officer is holding what very much appears to be a Walther P-38. If so , that nixes 1920's and jumps to post WW2. Whatever the period is, the figures look good. -- Al

Tom just told me that the officer's gun has been changed, so we return to the 1920's. Post WWII their uniforms were khaki not blue and white ( red piping has also gone)
guy:)

Red piping was on FFL Grenadier uniforms in Mexico in 1863 as well as back in France in 1831. I have no reference material showing red piping in early 1900's. I need to do more research. Regardless, the TG figures look superb. {sm4}

Hi Fort Stamford,
You are correct, I have already checked that and sent the TGN friends the correct uniforms for the period.
Other than that the sets are fantastic.
Cheers
