Two of the lovely ladies that work under me are travelling to London soon as a "bonus". I have asked them if they would mind in turn, picking up a little "sumthin sumthin" for me from the guards toy soldier shop or ....?
What comes to mind are some of the UK only releases....

Somewhat of a Britains question...maybe I should ask over at that thread?

What would you guys "wish" for?

Grant

Grant,

I'd give the girls and idea of what era you collect.... Napoleonic, Zulu, WW1, WW2 etc, then a style of painting (matte or gloss) and of course a budget, and then can can go to the helpful staff at the shop and the ladies can point out to them some suitable items.

Stipulate you want a UK maker, and not a Chinese painted figure, and see what surprises arrive.

Good luck,

John

PS, they could also goto Tradition of London in Mayfair, where Steve Hare can also help you in your quest.

They could visit The Armoury of St James; a small shop which stocks a range of manufacturers (not sure about WB) but has some great one off pieces. It is 5 mins from Piccadilly in a beautiful old arcade that I am sure they would prefer to the Guards Museum !!!

If you want WB UK releases then Model Zone is the best bet for their exclusive pieces and there are a few stores in London

Cheers

Hi Grant,

What a great opportunity! If it were me and, unfortunately, it is not, I would ask the friends to pick something not usually available where you live that is produced by one of the smaller British manufacturers. Firms like Sarum, Dorset, etc. come to mind. I have no idea what manufacturers are represented in the Guards Toy Soldier Shop, but if they carry some of the more seldom seen manufacturer's products, I would take advantage of the opportunity and the uniqueness of the set they choose would forever remind me of what wonderful friends you have.

In the final analysis, anything new to your collection will be a plus!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

A couple bottles of beer from the Black Sheep Brewery, that's what I'd ask for.

To the Black Sheep, and all who follow her, prost!

Though, if I could go myself, I'd visit Tradition and see if I could talk them into resuming casting the old "custom figure" line.

Well you have covered the serious stuff but might I also suggest a bottle of HP sauce and a jar of Marmite {sm4}

A barmaid the last one i saw was "STUNNING".........................{sm3}
