I've been working on these wonderful castings on and off since last September.28mm figures by Calpe miniatures in the U.K. as the line is extensive covering all unit types in a bewildering variety of poses.Really about as nicely sculpted and flash free castings as you could ask for.
Thus far I have completed 12 Infantry Battalions { x 4 Landwehr, x 2 Musketeer, x 1 Fusilier, x 4 Reserve and x1 Volunteer Jager} of 32 figures each, 4 x 4 gun batteries of artillery { x 3 line and 1 horse} and 6 mounted field Officers.
I've only managed a small unit of Line Lancers and need to add the lance pennons.
Plus theres lots of Perry plastics and other makers on the workbench. When I'm on a roll I can manage 4-8 finished foot in an evening.I first do all the basic colors on an entire unit, come back the next evening and complete 8 , do a color or 2 on another 8, coma back the next evening finish those, etc, etc until the unit is done.
Back at it again after a few months as I had hit the wall! The painting bug always comes back though! More near completion.
Hope you like them!

Last one. Sorry about the duplicates. It's very late but I was having fun!
These guyz all have to be put away tomorrow as I need to make room on the war game table for--- something else.

Fub you are right about Calpe's nice clean castings they are very well done and nice to paint.
Did find there website rather confusing thow and no online ordering page that i could find?.
Good paint work there plus nice work on the multi basing as allways.
RobRagnar,

P.s Have a good Waterloo weekend i had planned on pulling out eveything i can muster for a Waterloo battle myself this weekend
but have been rather lazy plenty of troops painted but not based so look rather sad,

I really do take my hat off to you guys who paint 28mm. 54mm are just about all my old eyes can manage - though I have tried 40mm - and that's as small as I want to go!. Your figures look fabulous - and must be great fun to do - as you describe. I must admit - I like toy soldiers en masse too - but my en-masse is considerably smaller than yours - if just for reasons of space!

Well done with them though - I like 'em a lot. johnnybach

Well these are very nice indeed, the quality of wargaming figures has certainly improved since I last bought any many years ago.

Fubar,

You have done a great paint job on these which is enhanced by the basing.

{bravo}}

Jeff

I cannot take credit for all of these except for the basing.Thank you for the kind remarks regarding that.I used to cut steel bases when I had access to a hydraulic shear. Now, I just buy perfect sized precut steel. Doing the terrain on the bases is tedious and kinda boring but nothing compared to painting the guyz!I bought these figs prepainted enmasse, did lots of inking and highlights.Hated French foes advance to contact.Perry metal and plastics .

PS
Yes Rob, The Calpe site is confusing regarding the Reserve troops in particular. Just when I thought I had it sorted out, I'd confuse myself again.

He {Calpe}is a one man show from what i understand.....Perry now have Metal Prussian Guns & Crews
Like that last pic the 28mm helps to give your table the impression of a vast land mass.

Yes, He is extremely talented .Has a few french available now.
I did a Perry 4 Gun Battery and 3 Mtd Officers.Who knows what other gems they have planned but no doubt I'll get some.
It's a 6 x 16' table , all made up by 4 x 6' sections, the last one 4 x 8 for a bit of an L shape.

Once again Fub you've done it again and continue to do so with your outstanding battle scenes no matter in what scale. Thanks for sharing it with us.........Joe

very Cool Fubar! What a great table top set up, Looks like great fun!

Thought i might share these 4 Calpe Prussians {my entire 28mm Prussian army {eek3}.
But thats ok im starting on the 1st few hours of Waterloo so more Prussians later.
Remember these Harold, well they were bare Metal whan you sent them down my way.
Vallejo paints as allways Model Color dark prussian blue was a good choice,im glad they got that color right.
Varnished with Humbrol to give em a nice flat look.

Beautifully done Rob. I'm glad you liked the extras. Still plucking away on Lancers , Officer's etc. My army is nearing completion for the goal I set for myself.
Now Perry Brothers have released some fantastic Fusiliers in metal to go with their Plastic Musketeer sets. Another regiment to do I guess.
Plus i am trying to do some French mtd Officers. I built a huge army and never did any.Struggling a bit to do so many at once, It's a ----- dirty word.
Thanks for showing the troops. They are a lot of fun to work on.

Some assorted shots from July's French vs Prussian extravaganza with several thousand 28mm metals and plastics from several local enthusiasts. fub

More action from the 12 hour marathon birthday bash. We started this project about a year ago.My buddy twisted my arm { a bit} to start back with the smaller figure scale. Again, I dont take credit for painting them all, many were done by a painting service, some from Old Glory painted armies. I still have 96 new Perry plastic and Metal Prussian line and fusiliers to do but I'm taking a bit of a break.
