Hopefully additions to their Roman Market soon.
Also interested in seeing what they release next for their Indochina range, hoping there will be figures that compliment those already released.

Are there blacks in the roman market? Because there were also black slaves...

Don't know Poppo. We will have to see, as other than they intend to release more additions to the Roman market and they released some fruit and veg to go on market stalls, that's all we know at present, though personally, I wouldn't be buying them since other than Nubians, there wasn't a large population in the Roman Empire. Other Africans being for the most part, of the lighter skinned and featured types from Egyptians to Berbers, despite what revisionist would have you believe !

The Slaver TG did were obviously based on Oliver Reed's character in Gladiator, but would be just as suitable for a Barbary Coast Slave Market from where funnily enough the Barbary Coast Pirates operated, raiding up as far as Iceland and taking prisoners there as well as in Northern Europe including on the Cornish coast here in England, who they later sold in their Markets in North Africa.
Perhaps they will explore the Slave trade further, though I can't see that such a range would garner much in the way of sales for TG.
Reading about the Slave Markets in Middle Eastern countries was quite interesting, which apparently was bigger than the transatlantic trade. Quite shocking to read the treatment many received being far more inhumane as to what they might expect by those mostly traded by West African tribal Chiefs.
I could go on, but leave it to anyone interested to do their own reading and it explains a lot to modern demographics.

I never said that there was a large population of black slaves in the Roman Empire, I just said that there were some...And just one would add colour in a diorama.

schiavi2.jpgschiavo1.jpg I have done a diorama on the circus games, anyway. It just needs a last touch, but I forgot to bring here a paint I need, so will post it in next months^&grin

Nope, you're putting words into my mouth poppo. I didn't say there was a large population on black slaves.
Historians seem to think that possibly a third of the population of Rome were slaves in the early Empire. These slaves were often the conquered people from Rome's wars. Such as the thousands of Jews used by the Flavians to build the Colliseum or later the captives made slaves in Trajan's wars in Dacia.
Neither of whom were full of black Africans. Far as I've read, Rome and its Empire had little to do with sub-Saharan Africa, where they would of encountered black Africans in large numbers. So other than Nubians in Southern Egypt there doesn't seem to be great numbers elsewhere in the Empire.

However nice your illustrations are poppo, modern illustrations are just that illustrations and not historical fact. Still it's nice to have little fantasies, which as you mention adding an African into such a diorama as I have myself, will add some colour and I look forward to seeing your diorama !

We did 2 black slaves Poppo, so twice as many as you asked for! Both sold out by the way and interestingly they did not sell as fast as the others.

Hi Matt

What would be nice is Roman Slave sellers as depicted in your pictures and Roman citizens bidding, roman slave merchant with whip, etc

all the best

Yep, if you've got the slaves being sold, you need some buyers bidding for them and some just watching and others just walking through the market, other stalls flogging everything else from Fruit and Veg, to second hand clothing, pottery, maybe someone just setting up shop with just a chair and cutting hair or pulling teeth, there are so many possibilities if the subject captures a manufacturers imagination and interest !

Personally, I'd rather see more soldiers and regular civilians. Some fighting Gladiators would be cool as well.

Team Miniatures done some Gladiators in both neutral and Combat poses and very nice they look too, though not a subject I've been interested in buying, but I'm sure there are plenty of collectors itching to, which is one of the great things about this hobby in that you can find figures by one manufacturer or another about so many different subjects and time periods.
About Gladiators, I think TG have said they are intending to release some, so looks like you will get lucky Rob.
Probably make a good display with a 3D printed and section of Arena like:

Looking forward to seeing what the releases will be and hoping there will be something there in my current interests.
