FW190 Trop lands!! (1 Viewer)

My tropical FW190, pilots, ground crew and ground crew tool set arrived today. I was very impressed with the quality of the Butcher Bird. The only thing I was a little disappointed with was that the sliding canopy was a little loose. The figures and mechanics table and tools were very well executed and completely compatible with my existing collection of 60 mm matt WWII figures (mostly K&C, Figarti and Honour Bound). I would highly recommend these sets.

Do any of you who have recieved the TG FW190 also have the KC FW? I am very interested how they match up in size to each other. Do they sit at the same height, have the same wingspan, body length? Would they match up in a dio together? Thanks. -- Al

AL...

Forgetting the theatres as TG are releasing the famous Arnim Faber version soon (the pilot who got lost and landed a pristine FW in England so,western front) they are compatible, though different versions, IMO. As a purely asthetic review I would have to go for the TG version for quality. Good decal work around the body and on the undercarriage and, a nice paint finish. My only caveat with the aircraft K&C release although, they are superb is the black painted lines to highlight the framework, something which TG does not do.

I suppose its down to choice and personal taste but, for a very new company TG has produced a superb rendition of the butcher bird

Thanks guys. I was asking because I was interested in whether the 2 manufacturers would look good together. I have the KC FW and I love it. Was thinking about the TG ETO version for a dio with the KC (I know they are different time frames). I have no doubt the TG version is superb (from everyones reviews), so I was trying to find out if there was a size problem between the two makers. Since both are 1/30, I wouldn't expect a difference but thought I would ask. -- Al

Al,

I'm sorry, I didn't have room in my collection for two polystone FW190's, so I picked the tropical TG version because I am more interested in the desert theater. If you want, however, I could depict the TG Butcher Bird alongside two mohagony K&C FW190's, one from the early 1990's, one from a couple of years ago.

I will, however, say that the finish and detailing of the TG butcher bird is exceptional, particularly for a polystone piece. It looks and feels more like a diecast metal aircraft than a polystone one.

Thanks for the comparison photo offer, Louis. It would be a very interesting picture. From what everyone is saying about the TG FW's, I'm sure the TG ETO version will look great alongside my KC FW. -- Al

My friend Harvey picked up his yesterday from George Guerriero of Minuteman Toy Soldiers and I talked to him about it today, to get his impressions.

Harvey was very impressed with it and though TG had done a great job. He thought that the coating on it made it look like one of those expensive K & C Wooden airplanes, that's how good it was. Harvey knows whereof he speaks. He has about 20 or 30 of the new K & C wooden ones.

Hopefully, TG will make some in the future.

I have yet to see a warbird wooden or metal that is better IMO
