Hi all, been a little quiet so thought I'd post this thread on questions, opinions, ideas, ect...I have been wondering (as others) what is the hold up with WWII armour?? Pricing? Quality? Or just the expansion of other ranges?? Really hope to see something new for WWII armour for any army.

It seems like almost every metal company right now are all deep into WWI, really some great sets out there from all the companies, if I had the extra coin I would certainly be a collector there, oh well, such as life...Sammy

Hi Sammy

my gut feeling it is a combination of factors. I think it is a combination of what is selling and their other lines taking up time and production lines.

Anyway, just me 2 cents worth 1/2 a cent! :)

Brad

I believe your 2 and a half cents are pretty good guess, as there are some great ranges/sets in production right now, speaking of which Brad, what's the word on any new Civil War sets?? or any other new pick ups??...Sammy

Have no idea really but, a guess would be price and from the ones I have been buying in the last few months and the winter Panzer III last year it not quality unless, you meant time factor for the detail which, I don't think is an issue IMO

I think FL will have to be careful with AFV's they release because of the increase in collectors buying Figarti and Dragon, FOV etc to match with their FL figures. How many people will want to pay (£260 GBP $299US) for an AFV or more if the prices increase with larger armour when you can get much cheaper items that work well with the figures.

It reminds me of the people who used to buy FOV and use them with that manufacturer at the top of the page!!

I would think for the Stalingrad range smaller AFV's would work Panzer II's etc. I am eagerly awaiting the Hanomag and obviously to see where the price point will be. Its easier to release for the east (especially Stalingrad) than west where the real large German AFV's were predominant.

Not a big mixer of manufacturers so, will wait and see but, with the two new winter troops coming I am looking forward to the Pak and the Hanomag.

Pretty soon Sammy :) When I went down to the Wilderness last week I was very very tempted to stop :)

No Mitch, First Legion quality is proven so don't think that is an issue, I meant maybe some AFV's were made that weren't up to standards?? I agree that with the last round of tanks by Figarti with the quality/price they certainly hit a homerun there, looking forward to seeing how First Legion responds to those tanks/prices.

As for the new winter stuff, all of it looks great, and hoping to see the Pak-38 team in the next newsletter or sometime in June...Sammy

Dear Collectors,

I say we beat down Matt's door, chain him to his desk, and demand that he make us all the armor we want in short order. I have room on my shelf for First Legion armor! :smile2:

Not sure what the hold up is with new Armor releases or even if there is a hold up at all, maybe it's all part of the master plan ^&grin. I'm really interested to see what they will come up with next. The question I guess will be just how much would First Legion collectors pay for the best Panzerkampfwagen VI ever made :wink2: regards Gebhard

I got it Gebs, First Legion will release a whole line of AFV's at one time!!! Panthers,Tigers,Shermans,Hanomags galore!!!! well one can hope anyway:) I will say this, if First legion does a Panzerkampfwagon VI like they did with the Panzer III, it would be one of the fastest selling tanks created!!...Sammy

If its under 300 bucks I totally agree but if it's over 300 I predict there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth {eek3} . regards Gebhard

I think this is right if its the usual price then people will buy. IMO if they were flyers armour would have been released a lot faster than it has. Frank mentioned the length of time it has been since the Panzer III had been released and made and nothing since. If its starting to rise over the price mark mentioned then I see people buying FOV and similar and hoping Figarti do some more Panzers for the east and west.

Figarti has shown with the release of their recent Tiger Tanks that a high quality AFV can be produced at approx. $189 (no figure included)....First Legion produces superb AFV's.....BUT....there is no denying that $300+ for AFV's is putting many collectors off..... I don't know where the price point will be for the next release FL AFV's..... I would suspect that Mitch may be correct in his thinking that many collectors are waiting to see if Figarti will produce Grey Panzer II's and other Grey Stalingrad AFV's at more reasonable prices.....Collectors will seek alternative sources for AFV's if prices rise much above $200-$250 or they will be forced to limit purchases altogether....The earlier FL grey panzers (VEH) were $299 with a command figure included.....The last release of the FL Winter Russian T-34 was $299 (with no command figure)....The Winter Figarti T-34/85 tank I believe was priced at $219 (also no command figure included).

I like FL ww2 figures and have bought some figures but their armor prices are way out of my budget. I'm NOT going to spend $299 plus for a single tank/truck no matter how nice they might look {eek3}. I like Figarti approach of charging $189 for a decent detail armor with nice tracks :).

I as a First legion WWII collector wish the pricing on AFVs was more in line with other manufacturers but top quality doesn't come cheap in this hobby, I have picked up a few Figarti pieces lately to go with a diorama I'm working on and so far so good, I do look forward to the next round of First Legion AFVs and curious to know what the prices will be as well...Sammy
