fortunate to already have a copy and its excellent. Not sure why the name changed as I think it was better before the change.. This and Downfall have been the best WWII films for many, many years

I have Downfall on DVD , & I agree it is a fantastic movie depicting the end in Berlin...When I was visiting family in Germany , my wife & I went to a local bar in the Lauenburg area...One of the patron's @ the bar we spoke with was a young boy & fought the Russians in the last days of the city...Reminded me of the boy in the movie...
I also agree the name should not have changed , I hope it has not been edited from it's original version !?

I am not sure if it will be edited hopefully not but, they love to fiddle with things. If it is let me know and I will send a copy of the full version to you

May 6th it is being released here , so I will own it & hopefully have watched it within a week of that...Then I can give my review , I have high hopes ! I only wish I could watch it with my grandparents because they lived it in Germany , but my grandfather is in Hamburg & my grandmother is in Michigan...

Soon as you watch it, you will be rushing out to get the new K&C classic German hospital releases. I know I did.^&grin, Robin.
 
I also agree Downfall is on the top my 10, list.
But a sidenote to that movie are some of the funniest things I,ve seen. Those dubbed in words for Hitler that you can watch on You Tube.
There is a b page where you can make your own Hitler video.

I have already been looking @ the hospital stuff...The ambulance looks really good to me...I however have been told by the wife to slow it down with all the tanks...This is after I just invested money into my friends boxing MMA gym...Ugh...!
I may have to find a bargain piece or repaint some britains deetail for a month or two...!?
Well Generations War comes out in May so we will see !

Reckon odds on you will succumb Joe, perhaps I should put a bet on, I think the odds are that good. Andy has said he has not finished with this series yet. I am seeing him face to face in July so I will be bending his ear and as I am bigger than him, also his arm. So with more to come and when you get the 3 disc set, which I think your wife would be prepared to watch, with a love story etc and the non tank aspect, may sway her to allow you to invest in the other side of the war being the medical aspect.^&grin^&grin, Robin.
 
I finally got the chance to sit down and watch all three parts of this film. I thought it was excellent! On the 2nd disc, the director and writer do a Q & A section and there they address some of the criticism the film garnered from various quarters. I do highly recommend watching this film.

I picked this up at the VF Show last week and am looking to forward watching it.

They showed the program on the BBC this month and on Saturday talked about the facts and fiction of the show which made interesting watching !
 
I also bought the DVD, watched Episode #1 the other night, great series.

My wife & i just finished watching the three part series the other night...Very moving & very well done IMO...I wasn't sure i'd get my wife to watch it with me , but she did & was just as riveted to it as i was...!

Based on the reviews here I order (from Amazon) and watched "Generation War". A really good WWII movie! {sm4}

As Joe mentioned, his wife joined him, as did mine. She also thought it was very different to the 100's of other WWII flicks I have, or actually almost all the military movies I have.

I finished watching it. Liked it but the series had some issues. I read that it was called the German B of B. However, it was not as good as B of B. Also, different. I read how Poles were upset with their portrayal (hatred of the Jews ) and I can understand how they would be upset but can't agree with the criticism; even after the War was over Jews continued to be subject to pogroms.

Agree Brad it was not good as B of B also agree it did not show the poles in a good light and the question was asked to the makers of the film after the end of the show about this
 
Depends on what you have in mind when sitting down to watch it. I think, much was said about promoting German actions and belittling some things that were done.

I thought it was superbly made and, IMO equal if not better than BOB however, they are different things so, really they cannot be compared.

I don't think it showed poles, germans etc in a good or bad light. It showed how they acted in that period and the jews were and have been subjected to such hatred through out history. It did show how War can change people how some of the ideology can be knocked out of you and how it can actually be entrenched into you even if you did not want it.

After some of the garbage that has been released in recent years this and Downfall have been two of the best productions made.
