German Infantry 1942 (1 Viewer)

Excellent review Louis, much appreciated.

...the only problem is mine haven't arrived yet, no doubt the guys at customs are playing with them.

Thank you for the excellent review of these excellent figures. I fully endorse your assessment.

Thanks for taking the time to provide such a thorough and detailed analysis and review, Louis :). (I was waiting for your review!) Another Treefrogger said that the FL WW2 figures were smaller than W. Britain's WW2 figures, which I find hard to believe. I've seen FL's earliest Napoleonic figures "in the flesh" (and was completely floored by their quality in every aspect as it sounds you were), and I've heard that FL's WW2 figures are a bit smaller than their prior releases, per a review from the London show. But I can't imagine them being smaller than the W. Britain's figures. If you have a chance, perhaps you can shed some more light on the subject before I pull the trigger and place my first FL order. I know that they aren't as tall or as robust as KC/HB/Figarti30 soldiers, but I'm hoping they land somewhere in between those makers' scale and that of W. Britains. Thanks again and congrats on your new acquisitionsl; I hope you really enjoy them! :D

Really well done and thorough review Louis. It answered all of my questions. Can't wait till you get the Stug.

Terry

I apologize, but I had to move my pictures within Photobucket and the links broke. I hence need to repost them:

:( I was hoping that these WW2 figure's would be around 2-1/2 or 2-3/4Inch in Size? I ONLY Buy 1/30th or 1/25th Scale Size Figure's! DISSAPOINTED! and can't afford ARMOR in the Upper price Range's! This Economy is NOT getting Better!

Man do I love this forum.

I really do.

Thanks for the entertainment John.

You are priceless.

Joe,

I don't own any Britains WWII figures, so I can't give an accurate comparison. I think they are around the same build and slightly taller than the Frontline WWII figures produced a few years back, if that helps.

My first 8 figures have arrived of the Stalingrad range...and I am angry!

Angry at myself that I did not order ALL of them day one!!!

These are the best so called "toy soldier" figures I have ever seen. Better than this? Even for FL to be measured against these in the future will be difficult!

The pureness of the sculpting, the fantastic painting, the natural poses, the fine size....THE PERFECT MATCH.

I am a FL fan, agreed, but objectively, this is ART. I compared one of these vs my Aeroart figures and the result is ... there is no difference!!!

Wouw, wouw, wouw...no photo makes them justice. They have to be seen in person and I guarantee that any OBJECTIVE, NON-BIASED WWII collector will have to admit that these are a must-buy.

Price-quality - unmatchable! Having seen them now, I understand even less these eternal discussions on price, size vs the competition simply because objectively speaking, and with all respect to other brands, there is no competition - these are in another league. And mixing them with others - no way!

Ok, hit back and give me the stick for this comments - I don't care - as it is the reality.

Congrats Matt!

Look forward to the Stug!

Excellent review; bottom line is you should not worry about mixing them with other brands. These figures will stand on their own merit in their own seperate display.

Not to mention, no other company in recent memory has done a series specifically for Stalingrad; K & C did a series back in late 90's, but those figures are now retired and tough to find.

These are simply brilliant.

End of story.

I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the StuG and the tank riders set. Whenever I find a manufacturer that makes products so special that they constitute works of art I get greedy for them. K&C warbirds, Heco Tinplate Models, and now First Legion's Stalingrad series . . . yep, broke but happy . . . :p

Matt recently asked that I please display his soldiers in their natural habitat rather than in the outskirts of town. Happy to do that for the person who blessed us with these superb figures.

Excellent photo to go with those excellent figures.

Thank you for the kind comments. One more if I may.

P.S.: Please note the details on the figures like the nails on the soles of the shoes, the wood grain on the grip of the shovel, etc. Just outstanding.

Those are some great photos / mini dios. The figures look nothing short of outstanding.

Cheers
Simon

I know embarassingly little about WWII and the pictures I took are my first attempt in getting a feel for this conflict from a collector's perspective. The more I appreciate the words of encouragement.

But while doing my homework, I found clear evidence of the technological superiority of the German forces throughout the War. And I think that I would like to share them with you (although I must assume that most of you will be familiar with these). Enjoy nevertheless.

Operation "Telecom" - cell phone coverage appears to have been blotchy. Last time I saw this was on a WWI cigarette card:

Does this qualify as a Hiwi?

In the immortal words of my favorite French Police Inspector, Clouseau, "Do you have a License for the Minkee?" Nice Luftwaffe uniform too.

But seriously, the shot with the Camels and the guys with their feet wrapped in blankets was amazing. Where did you find it and what is the story behind this?

Thanks for posting the great photos

Dave
