Does anybody know how many of these gifts set were produced. I can't remember if it was 50 or 75.

Alex,
These were made in groups of 50 if I am not mistaken. I really loved these boxes. I have all of them and I wish Andy would come out with some more of this type of set. They were great around Christmas time.

Alex and Bill,

I am unfamiliar with these gift sets. Can you tell me more about them? What exactly was their function? Did only dealers receive them? Were they available directly to collectors? Since they seem to have a very low production number, I would be interested in knowing more about them. Thanks!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat,

They're the same as regularly issued sets but come with a XM number, which probably signifies Christmas. They've been on ebay a couple of times but don't go for lots of money. Here's a link to what's been issued, http://www.toysoldiersusa.com/cgi-l...ubcategory=SPECIALTY SETS&subsubcategory=WWII

I have the British guard but like I said there's nothing real distinctive about it other than the identification number and the amount issued.

Brad,

Thanks for the information. I had never heard of these gift sets before now and I am glad to know that they consist of regularly issued sets. Does the fact that they come in a box with an XM number have any significance for the collector? The XM numbered boxes would be very few in number.

Thanks again for the information!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Pat,

Ever since I got the British guard who is part of EA 05, the Tractor and Limber set, I've wondered about that. However, I don't think so because there is nothing different about them other than the XM designation.

If I'm not mistaken (ask the Neville's for confirmation) I believe Andy also made gift sets (with regular issue figures in special boxes) for King & Country, UK as well. Because they are regular issue figures, I have never seen any great demand for them.

Dear Pat,
These sets came out Christmas of 2002 along with the first Santa set as follows:
XM02-01 - Santa's Book of Good Little Girls and Boys $43 A new King & Country Tradition -
This first Santa Clause release shows a seated Santa, a bursting satchel full of toys at his feet consulting his address book to see which little boys and girls have been good all year and deserve a visit from him.
In the background is a traditional Christmas Tree complete with candles, decorations and even more presents surrounding it.
For many collectors, the Christmas season is their favourite time of the year. It's when family and friends buy them a special set or figure, or the collector buys sets and figures as gifts for others.
Beginning this Christmas, King & Country will produce a limited-edition figure featuring Santa and different aspects of the Festive Season.
(I can't find any information on an XM02-02, Bill Sager can probably help out on this)
XM02-03 - Christmas Guard Duty $25 A standing at attention Scots Guardsman and his guard box.
XM02-04 - Last-Minute Conversation $79 Based on a famous photo taken on the evening before D.Day, IKE confers with three 82nd Airborne Paratroopers
prior to them boarding their C47s for France.
XM02-05 - Rommel & His Men $99 The most famous German General backed up by four of his Afrika Korp Fallschirmjager.
XM02-06 - WWII Personalities $71 Three of the most famous faces of the Second World War Der Fuhrer, Hitler, Field Marshal Montgomery and It Duce, Mussolini - all together in one box.
The boxes made them special (best boxes K&C has ever put out) but also the idea was that by purchasing them in a special gift set you saved money as opposed to purchasing them separately (perfect for friends and family to purchase for collectors!). I think I still have one Christmas Guard Duty left on the shelf that escaped our website.

Shannon, Brad, and Louis,

Thank you for the information. The detail you provided is very helpful to me. While the gift boxes (sets) may not be in any special demand, it is nice to know that only a few of them were ever issued and how to identify them. Knowing those small details makes me a better informed collector. If I ever stumble upon a gift set, I will at least know what it is.

Thanks again for the effort it took to supply me with the details!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

I will post photos of all the sets on my website soon. I will also display them here on the forum so you all can see what they looked like. These were just normal sets put together for a special christmas run and were packaged very nicely.
