I don't know how long this thread will last and its not a go at anyone but after the bagging K+C just recieved about a ( IMO) awesome plane 369US i was browsing all the TS websites as i do on a regular bases and i came across a Grey OPEL truck that i have been waiting years for to be released and i was excited nearly my first purchase from FL and then i saw the price 299.95US {eek3}.
Now IMO that is way over the top how can you justify that price ? Figarti,s OWL is 400US TGM,s SIG is only 85US what is going on how can there be such a price difference.
K+C released 2 OPELS in 2007 for 79US now i know this new one is a higher detail but in 4 years they have gone up 220.95US,like i said the detail/sculpting is higher quality but i can't be that high i am GOBSMACKED.
I hope this doesn't turn into a all-out pub brawl i,m just curious about the way pricing is heading 300US for a Truck IMO is ridiculous........^&confuse^&confuse^&confuse

Wayne, I've got to the point where I try and stay out of these sort of discussions because they only end up with folk throwing insults at each other. There was some stick given to K&C about their superb Typhoon as we all know, I guess now it will swing back the other way to FL and the price of their new truck. Tin hats on, this way to the air raid shelter....

Rob

Never mind the pricing question ..... I love that word "" GOBSMACKED"". Can't say that I came across that one before. Gotta' try using it and see how many folks around here (New England) know what it means.

Yeah i don't want to argue about it just want to know where the pricing is heading ^&confuse^&confuse^&confuse

Larry,
Wayne does have a way with words.
Since you are in New England you probably have more chance than most Americans of understanding some words from Wayne's world{sm4}.

I think FL mislabeled that truck. Its clearly not an Opel, it must be a Mercedes or BMW! ;) :p {sm3}

For those across the pond - I think this word must derive from the spontaneous act of putting the hand to the mouth in surprise at hearing something that really surprises you. Thus the "Gob" - or mouth, gets "smacked" by the hand, as it hits it - in surprise - doubtless with a sharp intake of breath.

Thus, the hearer of the "bad news" that a particular choice item is way more expensive than he/she had hoped - actually, results in the listener physically smacking his/her gob inadvertantly, and leads he/she to be literally smacked in his/her gob - or is " Gobsmacked" at the news.

Well - that's the way I read it anyway. I must admit - I would be too at some of the readymade prices I hear about - good job I paint my own! My gob never gets smacked! Good term though! Says what it means.:D

Hope this clarifies it for y'all. johnnybach^&grin^&grin^&grin

I felt the same Wayne and said so, I was gobsmacked by the moderator{eek3}.
I kinda feel like the group that buy the product are turning in some kind of cult like deal...Wait.. hear me out!
Exclusive high prices keep most out, lack of easy availability, almost never see them at shows, breeds a kind of exclusivity and elitism that none of the other companies work toward. I say this as the elitist side is what allows them to attack other companies product as being inferior and unworthy of the price. The russian companies turnout just as fine or finer products at even higher prices but you never hear them coming on threads to tear down other peoples product? I think it's really a problem, for some of the collectors to have to build themselves up by tearing down others is really unhealthy I'm sorry to say.

I do have a general interest in Toy Soldiers/Miniatures, starting from plastic figures to High End Russian Miniatures, and everything in between for many years. I enjoy to see them, I enjoy to read about them, I enjoy to get historical facts for the subjects provided by fellow forum members, and once in a while I like to purchase some of them.
By now, that is as of tonight, I decided not to read the First Legion or King & Country sections of forums anymore.
The constant bashing between the fan clubs of either mfr. has grown old and I would very much appreciate if it could get restricted to the mfr's sections.
Now it is growing into the general discussions and I am afraid that soon a few comments here and there on various threads throughout the forum will hint to the almighty conflict that seems to be established as a day by day need.
If I want to find out anything about King & Country products or First Legion products I will visit their websites, which give me the necessary information about ranges, releases, prices, pictures, everything I need to know.
The majority of us are well grown up men, I'd say in an average age of about 45 to 50, and I absolutely don't get it, how much any opportunity for a verbal fight is used and actually searched for.
Get over materials, get over sizes, get over colors, get over sculpts. Look at what is available and buy it if you like it. If you made a wrong choice, get rid of it, and buy from another mfr.
I don't think, that this forum has more than 60 to 70 active posting members. With that, we have to realize that we will not influence a mfr. who is selling his products worldwide.
In my opinion, a lot of arguments are coming up due to the need of individuals to get their opinion through and that for nothing but their own satisfaction.
This really is a great hobby and can provide pleasure for many, many years.
Let's keep it that way :wink2:

I would love to see toy soldiers of Andy and Matt in full battle gear. Now wouldn't that be a highly sought out set.Bet you could get $500 for a set like that on ebay.^&grin{eek3}.Everybody needs to lighten up.What do I care if somebody a half a world away says something that I don't agree with,it's just his opinion which we all have.It isn't like we are in a bar having a yelling match and maybe getting into a fistfight.Yell, scream, cry all you want, I'll buy what I want,I'll think what I want,I'll eat what I want,I'll watch what I want and anybody who doesn't like that guess what,I DON'T CARE.Now everybody go get some sleep and have a good night.
Mark

P.S.
Conte will fight the winner.{eek3}^&grin^&grin:salute:::salute::{bravo}}{bravo}}

I think this post is spot on , but I think the reality is some people enjoy
winding each other up more than talking about little painted soldiers.

Excellent post, Konrad, couldn't agree with you more. K&C and FL both make very good products but the fulminations of their customers are a source of acute rectal discomfort especialy when they are introduced into almost every thread on the forum. Trooper

Once again I have overstated my point, Matt is a fine man and everything that is good about freedom to take a chance and the art of selling what he loves. Most of the collectors of FL are really great guys and there presentation of FL products are second to none, I hate it when someone paints with a broad brush and here I am doing the same thing. the crux of the what I said is true to some degree in my opinion for some, those are obvious I apologize to the others by casting such a wide net.:redface2:

I made light of this last night.I think people feel the need to fight the battles for Andy and Matt. They are both big boys and can fight their own battles. They are competiers and proud of their products,I would have less respect for them if they didn't.I hope that these fights between their customers doesn't spill over and have these guys dislike each other. They are both big influences in this hobby and the hobby is richer by having both of them in it.
Mark

I'm sure FL and KC are laughing all the way to the bank. If nothing else, the back and forth about these products on this forum is free advertising, keeping the product up front and in one's face. Ho-Ho-Ho. -- Al
