The beach has been secured and the bunkers cleared, now a DUKW driver is trying to figure out how to get his vehicle and the troops to the top of the cliffs.

Dear "wwiibuff":

More great photos. It looks like these figures represent the US Army's 4th Infantry Division?

"Iron Brigade"

More good shots Duke, those Tank riders look like they were made for the DUKW,nice work.

Thanks IB. Actually the K&C figures here have 3rd Infantry Division patches on their sleeves (which wasn't at DDay) which would make this scene have to take place in Italy to be correct, and not Normandy.:eek:

The US 3th Inf Div also participated in a D-Day in France , namely in the South of France, where they landed on the Côte D'Azur;
So you are not so wrong after all putting them in a Dukw.
guy:)

Thanks Guy, that's right. Also, before they came onto the south coast of France they came over to Italy from North Africa. The Book "Great Battles of World War II" by John MacDonald, Chartwell Books 2003, has an excellent photo of of the 3rd Division coming onshore below Anzio in January 1944 showing Dukw vehicles coming from landing ships and moving inland with troops, cargo, etc. I don't see any concrete bunkers in the photo though so my dio pictures may not be all that accurate.:)

Nice pics, Duke. Those GI tank riders are a great set. We could use some more!:)
